The last few years there really seems to be an increase in penalties called in NFL games. Not sure of the numbers but the stoppage of play the last few seasons has seemed to be way worse. Some ref crews seem to really be going overboard.
If anyone watched the Eagles at Cowboys yesterday the 4th qtr was just yellow flag after flag, some calls were very bogus both ways, and some of these games are littered with yellow flags.
I did not realize until yesterday the NFL makes it illegal for a running back to lead with his helmet (as Zeke Elliott was flagged for for 15 yards), are they supposed to just run upright and get drilled. And there is so much contact on pass plays between receiver and defender that goes uncalled (it could be called most plays) that when they called Off Pass Interference against the Eagles backup TE it was no even borderline push off.
The other one yesterday was the sack by the Cowboys where the rusher looped around behind the QB and tackle him, just only tackled him, the rusher didnt go into Wentz' legs with force it was an arm tackle.
Anyway, we have seen some low blocks in college get called as illegal even though the blocker gets his head in front of the person being blocked, I think there probably could be more holding called on the offense in college ball and wide receivers blocking on the various WR screens hold alot . I am just wondering when there will be a lot more yellow flying in college games
