the biggest loss is Gatens at 16 ppg and his senior leadership,
this team will have 6 of the top 8 scorers back, Marble 11.1 ppg, White 10.3 ppg, Basabe 8.0 ppg, McCabe 7.5 ppg, Oglesby 6.2 ppg and May 5.2 ppg, with losing Cartwright 5.9 ppg, in the 7th spot, nobody else avg's 2 or more.
how close were we to a 20+ season, if Iowa had beat Cambell, Clemson and UNI they would have been 11-2 OOC which would moved the total to 18-11, them if they get home wins over Purdue and Nebraska, with the road win at PSU that most consider bad losses, that would change it to 21-8 and 10-6 in CP with 2 to go.
most people on this board and other boards consider these to be bad losses,
that's how close:
now we look at next season, there is no reason not to expect Gesell to come in and perform at a high level, unless people are going to say only freshmen can come into a Michigan type school can do so, and Iowa can only expect freshmen to need a year to adjust, same with Woodbury. he was awarded the NBA top 100 mvp and is a true center and a borderline Top 50 player, i would expect him to be able to handle the rigors of College, Leonard came in as a 215 lb stick, Woody is coming in as a 245 lb'r, even Zeller is 225 lbs, to discount him is unfair to the kid.
then you add in the returning players no reason not to expect a 20+ win season would not be that unrealistic. with a solid rotation of 2 players at each position and 2 extras to cover 2 position or the real possiblility of a player being RS. the expectation of 20+ wins and a NCAA bid in my opinion should be expected
