next years expectations

the biggest loss is Gatens at 16 ppg and his senior leadership,
this team will have 6 of the top 8 scorers back, Marble 11.1 ppg, White 10.3 ppg, Basabe 8.0 ppg, McCabe 7.5 ppg, Oglesby 6.2 ppg and May 5.2 ppg, with losing Cartwright 5.9 ppg, in the 7th spot, nobody else avg's 2 or more.
how close were we to a 20+ season, if Iowa had beat Cambell, Clemson and UNI they would have been 11-2 OOC which would moved the total to 18-11, them if they get home wins over Purdue and Nebraska, with the road win at PSU that most consider bad losses, that would change it to 21-8 and 10-6 in CP with 2 to go.
most people on this board and other boards consider these to be bad losses,
that's how close:
now we look at next season, there is no reason not to expect Gesell to come in and perform at a high level, unless people are going to say only freshmen can come into a Michigan type school can do so, and Iowa can only expect freshmen to need a year to adjust, same with Woodbury. he was awarded the NBA top 100 mvp and is a true center and a borderline Top 50 player, i would expect him to be able to handle the rigors of College, Leonard came in as a 215 lb stick, Woody is coming in as a 245 lb'r, even Zeller is 225 lbs, to discount him is unfair to the kid.
then you add in the returning players no reason not to expect a 20+ win season would not be that unrealistic. with a solid rotation of 2 players at each position and 2 extras to cover 2 position or the real possiblility of a player being RS. the expectation of 20+ wins and a NCAA bid in my opinion should be expected

your point, other than the point at the top of your head, and that the fact you can come up with nothing constructive to add

I missed the part where your OP had anything constructive to add (or most of your posts, for that matter). Thank you for pointing out what anybody who follows Iowa basketball already knows, Captain Obvious.

And why not put crazy expectations on a couple of true freshman, right?

Yes we lose Gatens, but count losing him as 2 of our top scorers combined. Incoming frosh (hope I'm wrong) will not produce 1/2 of Gatens' offensive output.

And your point, is that if we go back and change a bunch of our losses to wins, then we would have a better record.

HUUUURRRRRRRRRRBY

three of the conference changes will be OSU will be on the road so that eliminates a home loss as they play them once, MSU will be a home game and Iowa has had MSU'S # at home, even last year Fran's worst they beat MSU at home. Illinois will be Home game, but with me expecting Gesell who is higher rated and regarded than Burke was and compete with him, I guess Burke is the only freshman in the world to come in and perform like that is beyound people comprehension.
how dare any hawk fan or myself should think a Hawleye recruit could compare to a Michigan recruit. who as a freshmen avg 14.2 ppg, and forgive me on thinking a Top 50 recruit and NBA Top 100 MVP could possibly play with the GOD Zeller for Indiana, my mistake in thinking a Iowa recruit dare step into the BT with such players.
maybe Gesell and Woodbury should crawl on their bellies and beg to play with such GODS, or maybe Fran should beg the BT to even stay in the same county with such awesome schools
my god how big a @******** can you be

Iowa will make the NIT next year. the team will be similar to this years. win some you probably shouldn't, lose some you probably shouldn't.

like I've said in the past, without unforeseen departures 2013-14 could be the breakout year.

Gatens is averaging 15.8 ppg, OMG better forget next season how can Iowa possibly make up 15.8 ppg, Gatens has scored 30 or more point in what 2 games? so that makes him irreplaceable?

I have liked the flashes that Oglesby has shown this year. If he works as hard as Gatens obviously has the last two years, no reason he shouldn't be able to be the guy running through screens next year and after.

I think one could argue that without gatens the two big wins Iowa had last week probably dont happen. the attitude around here regarding the basketball program would be completely different IMO if that were the case.

he will be tough to replace

the haters keep on hating, rather than constructive conversation, all i see is the haters
and i never said he would not be hard to replace, my point is this team will NOT need a single player to score 30 pts and carry the team, nor will Gesell or Woodbury have to carry the team, they will have more option to come in and score, and more quality players to put on the floor.
but leave it to the haters of anything positive, to come in and trash the post

Is someone here HURRBY's case worker? Can you explain where this outburst came from? I don't think his new medication is helping.

Herby, we are all excited to see the incoming class and what they bring next year. But you go a little overboard when you say you EXPECT 20 wins and to go to the dance. Relax man, things are turning around. It might happen next year but I wouldn't expect it.
