Maybe he just wasn't as good as Fran hoped he would be. Happens all the time in recruiting. At the time he recruited him, Fran probably felt lucky to get him, considering where Iowa's program was after the Lick era.

I hope he becomes a good player, and I was probably a little harsh in my previous reply, but I haven't seen anything from him to make me believe he has a bright future.

Agreed. So far he's been a recruiting miss.
Meyer is going to be a great player for Iowa. He is athletic and six foot ten. He has already proven he is a good three point shooter. The only reason he hasn't played is Fran was playing the seniors ahead of him. He should be fun to watch next year. Iowa is going to have a lot of high division 1 players on the team next year. They will be a team with a bunch of juniors and seniors. Iowa should be pretty tough next year.

When did he prove he's a good 3 point shooter? Did I miss a game?
I've seen him make some three pointers, but it has been awhile since he hasn't played much. He holds his high school conference scoring record. Its being published that Ellingson from Wisconsin was a consensus all-state selection as a high school senior. Hopefully, if he plays a next year, which might be doubtful, he will adjust to the college game quickly. He probably will have a hard time playing with Jok and Oglesby ahead of him.

I'm thinking this thread has gone off the rails with all this Kyle Meyer talk. While I wish him the best I think a large majority of Iowa fans can agree he's not the cure for what currently ails Iowa basketball.
As I've said before, Iowa needs to find one, if not two, impact players via transfer or JC this spring or next year could be a struggle.

Some people value Kyle higher than maybe you or me. Hell, I hope they are right and he becomes a significant threat.
I have a lot more optimism going into next year than I had going into 12/13.

As I said before, I hope he becomes a good player too, but he's already on the team. The point I was trying to make by starting this thread was the coaching staff must add some impact players this spring. If it's Atwood, a transfer, or both I don't know, but we need athletic scorers or next season could be a frustrating one.

Team needs help moving forward and I think Fran recognizes it, now it just comes down to whether or not he can bring it to iowa city. He already has Dickerson, now we need the big poece to the puzzle, Atwood.

Meyer? I really thought he might be a possible transfer to a lesser program. I sure havent seen anything to indicate he can contribute next year. Wood be great to get Atwood, but we are still lacking a "Marble type of player" who can take you off the dribble and take over a game when you need a go to guy. I know some thought marble wasnt always a positive force and he did have his down times but he also took aver and kept us in a number of games and he was 1st team all big ten. I dont see any 1st teamers on our roster for next year.
