Congrats to the Hawks for making the NCAA tournament. While I agree with the sentiment that it feels a bit hollow this team has a chance to reclaim some of their manhood so we'll see how they respond. This post may be a bit premature, but I have a few position by position thoughts on next years team.
PG- I think Gesell and Dickerson are the two best options here. I think Clemmons gives strong consideration to transferring this offseason. I think the handwriting is on the wall about his future prospects with the program. Gesell and Dickerson have a chance to give the Hawks strong to really strong PG play next year. If Gesell is going to become the player we all hope he can he must improve his shooting.
SG- This position scares me! Olgesby is a good shooter, but he lacks the athleticism to be a starting B1G two guard. He's a role player who can knock down 3 pointers. No more, no less. Peter Jok has had some good moments this year, but he's a defensive liability. This position is a huge question mark for next year and would benefit from an offseason transfer.
SF- I guess Uthoff is the guy here. He's as skilled a 6' 9" player as I can remember, but passive and weak with the ball far too often. Willie Atwood anybody!!!!
PF- My hope is that Aaron White finally plays the 4 next year. He's great in transition, but so limited in a half court game. I just don't think our coaches understand what he is and what he isn't as a player.
C- Just like this year Woodbury and Oleseni probably share minutes here.
I guess the more I think about next year's team it becomes apparent that we need to add a dynamic scorer who can get his own shot or we could be in trouble.
