Well, if you know that, then it stands to reason that Fran knows that. Which means nothing that McJunkins does should surprise Fran enough to get that sort of reaction. If you know a ref is as awful as you say, there should be nothing you aren't mentally prepared to deal with, as a coach. What sort of unhinged person allows a bad ref to get them, when they already know how bad he is????Do your homework on that McJunkins before commenting....that POS is a fricken glory, power trippin dude like Eddie and Teddy Valentine. No racial profiling but certainly the shoe fits....

I know this first hand, as I have had to approach AAU officiating the same way.
As a coach, you don't worry about things you can't control. Like the officials. You don't lose your cool to the point of being suspended by your league or your AD. That is 100% on Fran and it's 100% within his ability to control. And this is the 2nd time that he has not shown that ability.not excusing fran's actions cuz they were wrong. but, if mcjunkin is that bad (and i have seen a couple of games he officiated prior to the iowa game where both teams coaches and players were yelling and screaming at him) and if fran knows it, then shouldn't the B1G also know it and do something about it? again, not excusing fran's actions, but the B1G needs to fix it and rid itself of these horrible refs. they can impact standings and conf seedings. that shouldn't be the case.
I'm not happy with Fran but with his extension last year and buyout he's not going anywhere for at least 2 years.
You can thank Gary "The Teflon Man" Barta for that.

This seems to be a pretty big stretchMy concern, especially when he has two of his own kids playing, is that he will throw a punch at an official and that will be the end, not to mention that he will be arrested. If McJunkins T's anybody other than Connor, I'm convinced that Fran doesn't chase him down the tunnel. In Fran's mind it was like any vendetta between coach and official was now extending to the coaches son. You can also make an argument that McJunkins wouldn't have T'd up any other player on the team as quickly. I think that's more than reasonable to assume.
Now he's going to have Connor and Patrick. And Connor has already shown a petulant side when he doesn't get a call. And Fran has shown how overprotective he can be of his own.
Have you ever head the expression "everything before the word "but" is complete bull shit" ?friend, review my post. how many times did i say "i'm not excusing fran's actions"?
the point i made in my post is that the B1G has a responsibility to get rid of horseshit refs because THEY can and have an impact on the standings/seedings. i saw two games prior to iowa @ osu where both teams/coaches were screaming at that fools calls. so, that's 4 coaches and 4 teams in games immediately prior to @osu.
i hope my point is clearer, now.
correct - Iowa is not going to fire a 21 win coach, they just aren't. That's just not gonna happen likely anywhere. But I am starting to understand the other side of the story more every day. What is happening this season is complete and udder bullshit.
I saw him at one of Patrick's games this winter. He was sitting three rows in front of me. He could easily have been T'd by any of the refs that night. From the bleachers. This seems to be a pretty big stretch
I brought this up three yrs ago when the writing was on the wall with red face and his anger issues and the inevitable “ferentz family plan” that was coming. Youth and aau tourneys had seen this act for yrs so this comes as no surprise. Adding another family member with more losses will only make it worse. An AD worth his stripes would have read this coming yrs ago but just like with lifetime ferentz, gary doubled down on fran. If he waits to move on red face until after jr enrolls then he’ll have one of the bigger messes on his hands during his tenure and that’s saying something. My concern, especially when he has two of his own kids playing, is that he will throw a punch at an official and that will be the end, not to mention that he will be arrested. Programs that really care about winning- this is what you do. You don’t settle, think you can’t do any better or wait until the contract expires. You make the move and demand excellence. We already have one major program on cruise control and this one is less than that. This exercise is futile. Barring a major scandal Fran isn’t going anywhere.
20 wins is the most overrated stat in college basketball. Who you beat is what matters. Give me b10 titles and sweet 16 runs. This coach hasn’t come close to either
He caused a scene a JustAGame in the Dells when he was asked to run the scoreboard. It's standard at most youth and some AAU tournaments for a parent from one team to run the book and one from the other team to run the scoreboard. He pretended to not know how to run it, got pissed, and stalked off. Over running a scoreboard. The story has become the stuff of legend in the state of Wisconsin.I brought this up three yrs ago when the writing was on the wall with red face and his anger issues and the inevitable “ferentz family plan” that was coming. Interesting thread. I understand people being upset Fran got himself suspended 2 games.
But I noticed something the last 2 games. This team sucks without Fran on the sideline during a game. I realize many like to complain about every last thing he does during a game. But for as bad of a game coach as he is we sure look better when he’s the guy coaching the game IMO.
