Looks impressive...

He's got some skills but he's not very athletic. A couple of times there he caught the ball at the rim and no defender. You'd like to see a 7 footer explode up and throw it home there. I'm very interested to see what kind of player he develops into.

Not sure what to take away from that video. Only time he dunks is warming up. However...Dunks are the same amour of points as lay UPS...

I wish there was more defense in the video, I feel that's were he will more more of an impact.

Keep in mind the video is from last summer and he isn't even 18 yet.
He has enough skills in the post to give him time to develop leg strength and agility.
As said earlier the potential is there and we'll see just how he develops over the next 5 yrs.

He's got nice feet and a good roll to the basket, the rest will come when he hits the weight room on campus.

I agree.... I think once he gains some strength he will start finishing strong with two hand dunks. 7 ft guys should never lay the ball up, they should aim to dunk the ball every time the touch it down low. When you lay the ball up it makes it hard to finish when you get bumped, you need to go strong to deter people from blocking you. You need to go strong so a body bump does not make you miss a lay up.

He needs to add strenght and aim to dunk everything.

Give him 2 years to gain strength and confidence and he will be a force. Maybe 10-15 pts a game but offenses are going to have to contend with him around the rim on defense. I know the highlight doesn't show it but for a big kid he moves pretty well and coached up, he should be a force defensively . I think he will be, but we're going to have to give him some time.

He needs to work that leg press machine. Hard. Fran will have him on that, just like Basabe last off season. Woodbury will do just fine...

I totally agree with him needing to get stronger and just have the aggressive attitude of trying to dunk it every single time. That said having a big guy with soft touch around the basket at this stage is awesome too. Thats probably the toughest thing to teach a big guy. Either they have that or they don't it seems like. He'll be a great player theres a reason all the big schools were hot on his tail.

The very thing he may be criticized for, I like - not every shot is a dunk. He actually has a shot around the basket that is not dependent on jamming it through the rim. Sullinger from OSU plays the same way a lot of the time. Some here may be too young to remember, but Bill Walton had to learn to play without dunking, and he had great shot making skills around the basket. I see it as a positive.

The thing that I liked the most about that highlight reel was the spin move toward the end. That was pretty quick and under control for 7'1".

Remember, every person's body develops at different times. When someone grows to 7'0" tall, most of the time, it takes them longer to develop the strength and coordination to go along with it. Look at how many center's we have had over the years that didn't contribute significantly until they were Juniors or seniors. Woodbury looks like he is ahead of the curve on this, but time will tell.

I am not worried about his basketball skills. He has the skills to contribute from day 1 as a freshmen. The only thing that might hold him back is his strenght. I honestly would not mind him getting a diet/workout routine made up for him that the hawks send him(not sure on if this is allowed by the NCAA). I would like him to add about 10 pounds of good weight/muscle before he gets to Iowa City in June for the start of the prime time league. Once he is in IC he can probably add maybe 5-8 more pounds before the start of the season November 2012.

I think the only thing that will hold him back will be adjusting to the strength of the interior players he will be facing at the college level. He is not ranked as high as he is just because he is 7ft, he has basketball skills. I don't think it will take until his junior year to be solid contributor. The only thing that would hold him back would be his drive, which I assume he is a driven guy.

Will need to work on his strength and explosiveness. Has no ups right now but he is a 7 footer. Had some nice Kevin McHale-ish type moves down low and a pretty jump shot.

No way this kid is 7'1. If he is, every other kid in that video is at least 6'11. He doesn't tower over anyone... I say he's 6'11, tops! Very good player though, who stays under control, and doesn't try to do too much outside of his comfort zone.

He is 17 years old, has been playing AAU ball for 3 or 4 years against some of the top talent in the country, and only has a full year ahead of him before he steps on campus. Let him grow up before you criticize his weight...

You simply cannot teach 7'1 or 7'2...
