New intermat rankings 2/1

4 of our first 5 weights are in the top 10! I'm so glad that Marion is back, he is worthy of his #3 ranking. It's good to see the team continue to move up, but when are we going to get some respect? I think we're better than #6. We had a tight meet with Ok. St, beat #1 PSU and smashed everyone else we've wrestled. Can't wait for the Minnesota meet now!

The team rankings aren't based off of dual meets, it is based off how many points they think teams will score at nationals with guys being ranked in the top 8. The big difference with this and what will actually happen is this doesn't and can't factor in any bonus points or upsets.

Plus I kind of like them at #6, it should be enough fuel for Brands to keep the guys motivated and prove people wrong come March.

Huh! That's interesting. Thank you for clarifying that! So the rankings are pretty much based on the number of guys ranked in the top 8 per each team?

Yes as the top 8 place winners score the most team points and are classified by the NCAA as All-Americans, I'm not sure how this one does it, but a guy ranked first would be worth 16 points and a guy ranked 8th would be worth 1 point. And I don't think it figures in points for guys that may win 2 or 3 matches and not place either. That could be an additional 3 or 4 points or more as well.

While this isn't an exact science it is their opinion of how things will play out come March.
