New coach?

I for one was not calling for Ferentz's head but was calling for O'Keefe to be replaced with a capable OC. This previous year still hasn't changed my opinion of him as our OC as our offense was still putrid.

Ya, I wanted a change with football too. But it wasn't with KF. Hawk fans wanted him to change his OC, which most Iowa fans still would like to see happen.

I think TL could stay but he has to bring in other assistants. We are at that desperation stage with how bad we are. The football team never even got close to that though.

A year and a half ago many of the same humanoids calling for Lickliters head were calling for Ferentz's head but nobody will stand up and admit they were. Every program, especially Basketball programs in states like Iowa that rarely have D1 quality B-ball talent coming out of it, go through tough years. Our football program during the Ferentz era, which almost all of us would say might be the greatest stretch of football the program has ever seen, went through bad times as well. Continuity is what gets a program like Iowa's football and basketball programs to a level where they can consistently reach BCS games in football and the tourney in basketball. Lick's junior class all left because of mothers dying, dads dying, bad advice, homesickness, whatever. His Soph, fresh and incoming classes have been good. We don't need a new coach, we need patience, just like happened with the football team, that patience will be rewarded. Imagine how stupid of a choice it would have been if Barta would have done what so many on these types of message boards asked for and axed Ferentz.
I will admit I was one of them but I was stupid for doing so. Thus, I am going to give Lick some time before I start calling for heads.

I don't think TL will be let go after this season, however if he was...I'll suggest Doug Wojik (sp) at Tulsa. Former Mich State assistant.

I'm going to say it......even though deep down I know it's bad.....but.....Tim Floyd would be my next coach at Iowa. If he gets cleared from the USC issue I say why not?? It would generate more buzz in this state and nationally then ever before. 2 years and we would be back in the big dance. We need someone who isn't afraid to do what the rest of the big time programs (coaches) do - get down and dirty and get some ballers in here.

Let the ripping begin...

IMO I wouldn't care who took over the program as long as it was a fun style of play to watch. Not that it would ever happen, but could you imagine the hype that would be stirred up if the new coaching staff brought in a style of play similar to what Grinnell plays. I'd love seeing a shot go up every 9 seconds and even though it probably wouldn't be effective at the D1 level it would be fun to see a fast pace of play return to CHA.

Well I'd be opposed to firing coach Lick. But if it happened I would like the Hawks to go after Stallings again.
