Never-Aired This is SportsCenter Commercial with Bob Sanders

Damn he was fun to watch. Glad he ended up playing for Iowa.

Was he known as a hard hitter when he came in or did he develop that mindset at Iowa? It seems he just exploded after coming on campus after his first year. I'm sure they had film of him from HS showing hits but not sure they thought he'd end up as good as he was in college and the NFL sec to being a bit undersized.

I clearly remember the one play when he charged downfield on punt coverage and pushed the one opposing player into his own player causing the ball to bounce off the player and Iowa recovered. A brilliant headsy play. Only Bob!!

I know I've shared this before, but this was my last interview with Bob, at Fry Fest, when he was being inducted into the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame.

Bob arrived at Iowa ready to hit. He had no filter. Later in his career, they had to hold him out because he couldn't slow down in practice. Fred Russell told me offensive players would fake injuries when they knew Bob was being allowed to go full out at practice.

KF credits Bob with changing the mindset in the program. He led the Bullies of the Big Ten period.

Weird he didn't get a lot of offers. He stated he would have walked on if he had to. Where did he attend High School?

Just a great humble guy! I feel sorry for those who were too young to enjoy his game.

Pretty sure Bob was out of Erie, PA, just like Ed Hinkel!

He went to Erie (PA) Cathedral Prep. There, he played for Kirk Ferentz's mentor, Joe Moore.

What an incredibly violent player but you could never tell that from watching this interview.
