Negative posters.

I know every one has the right to post their opinion, and they should have. But I do find message boards posters to be more negative than most Iowa fans. I talk to a lot of Hawk fans and most are much more positive. There was a lot of ******** after the Minnesota game, but that was pretty much it. I agree with Jon about not allowing people to rip on players. Why anyone would want to do this, I have no idea.

They will deny it, but people that are always negative here don't just display that characteristic on this message board. they are generally this way in their lives.

After a loss, especially to a sub par team (Minnesota), emotions are very high and typically alcohol fueled. So, rather than rant and rave to my wife and dogs about my frustrations with the game, I come on here and rant and rave. It's a fan forum and it's what it's here for. It would be boring if this board was all high fives and orange slices for everyone. If the negative posts bother you then stay away from the boards Sat through Monday. By tuesday most of us return to a sane frame of mind and can look at things more objectively.

Overall we are just like every other fan base. We all run to the boards to vent our frustrations. Bama fans are currently complaining about their playcalling, lack of a kicker and their QB who is too "average" for their liking. They only need a win over Auburn to get a spot in the NC game and they still aren't satisfied.

I love it when people use booze and frustration as a cop out to actling like a whiney little kid on a message board.

The translation to the bolded above is "I'm an alcoholic who has trouble controlling my emotions when I drink."

Wow! To deny that booze and frustration play a roll in post game emotions then you are very ignorant. I never said it's right or wrong, but it's a fact and it happens. Last I checked there is a large portion of the college football fan population that enjoys a few drinks while watching their team play. I think we can all agree that alcohol can alter mood and emotion. It plays a roll, whether you like it or not.

And who the hell cares if someone gets on a message board acting like a whiney little kid, does it hurt and bother you that much? I think it can be pretty entertaining to watch people overreact.

I'm not denying they have an impact. I just find it funny to see people who think it's ok to rationalize acting that way on a message board by saying "I only do it when I'm drunk" when the reality is their issue with alcohol is bigger than their issue of behavior on the boards.

I'm also very entertained by all the people freaking out here after a loss, in fact it's the only positive thing that comes from Iowa losing on Saturdays.

I get the complaining after a loss, even though I don't participate it. Coming on these boards after a loss is absolutely the last thing I want to do, but to each their own.

What I don't understand is the whining after wins. I was traveling for most of the weekend (I actually went to the game), but paging through the football board, I can count the number of positive threads on one hand. Pretty shocking when you consider the fact that we won our first road game against a team that had a ton to play for and had just upset Ohio State. I thought it was a great game-- a ton of mistakes, yes, but they rebounded from those mistakes in a way they didn't in previous road losses. Great to see. A lot of people thought we were going to lose (I remember seeing tons of predictions of a 5-7 or 6-6 record after the Minnesota game), we won by 10, and still they complain. At that point, I don't even understand what is fun about following the team.

I was thrilled after the win at Purdue. After watching this team through 11 games, I think 7 wins is pretty darn good. 7 wins in a down year is a success to me.

This coming from a guy who's screen name comes from this guy?

I agree with Duff.

And what are the peoples excuse that b1tch and complain about the same stupid crap 3 days after a loss? Are they still drunk?

Totally agree.

I was downright ebullient after the win at Purdue.

It's fun to see the team get a big road win.

Haters gonna hate, I guess. Also (this pertains to some earlier posts), if you're drunk and angry, just go take a nap or something. Hopping on the interwebs to whine about KF's salary while drunk is gettin' old. Nobody likes a boorish drunk.:D

Yeah, they are all still drunk, because as Duff said they are alcoholics, and alcoholics are drunk 24/7. Thankfully for my sake, looking back at my post history I am not one of the ones who continually b1tches and complains about the same stupid stuff, therefore I can proudly say I'm not an alcoholic, whew! Thank god. I do need to be careful and watch it though, I have a few times gotten drunk during a loss and got on a message board afterwards. It hasn't happened every time but it has happened before, god bless my soul.

Alcohol or no alcohol, it's the law of diminishing returns in effect here. After a bad loss (once again, see Minnesota), fans are typically very upset and emotional. The next day on Sunday, many of those fans, while still upset, are not as upset as they were the previous day. On Monday, the same thing... By Tuesday, as a fan I would think most are looking towards the next game and have put the previous disappointment behind them.

As for those fans that complain all week/all year, they are negative nancies that will never be satisfied. I'm entertained by it, so it doesn't bother me. It's not the majority of the fan base.

This thread is an overflowing cornucopia of Thanksgiving week FAIL.
