Nebraska is right; it's not a rivalry

honestly it doesn't have the "rivalry game" feel even though it's a border state. My friend, who's a Fusker fan, agrees. Rivalry games have to stem from somewhere, the fan bases can't just dislike each other........there's more to a rivalry than that. The teams have to not like each other. Iowa/Northwestern is a way better rivalry than this so called rivalry that is totally forced. This is more like Iowa/Illinois in terms of feel, except nebraska actually has fans.

It is for me. from Iowa, went to Wayne State College in Ne. from 94-99 (yeah, THOSE years, ugh). Lived in Omaha since 99. F Nebby and their delusional asss fans.

I guess my friend is less dilusional than most. He doesn't expect national titles from nebby these days.

Well it was nice to see Kirk not only not pull his starting d the last Neb possession but also run a play with 25 seconds left ,his team up 30, instead of kneeling. As much as I'd like to see us go back to playing Minn our last game it's good to know the coaching staff is treating this rivalry like they did back in the day with Minn by not ever letting the foot off the gas.

I have been to 2 or 3 Outback Bowls and its a great experience. Tampa Bay area kicks a.. and the stadium is really a beauty. Love the big area in one end zone where a burger, fries and a beer watching the Hawks warm up is just lots of fun. Talked to both Iowa and enemy fans there and met some really great people. So, get there early and enjoy.

And, truth be told, the greatest part of the Outback Bowl this year is the fact that it passed on the Huskers and chose the Hawks. Would love to hear the Nebbie fans' reactions to this one!

Outside of the Rose Bowl last season, the Outback Bowl is next best for the weekly bowl activities, area and stadium experience.

I agree Nebby fans are delusional. However, they are very deep in their love for the Huskers. Had one fan, after a defeat of the Hawks by Nebby start yammering at my about Nebby's spiderback. That's just too intense for me.

Oh, and my wife's Nephew by marriage coached at Wayne State as an assistant around that time. RM.

I personally like playing Nebraska last. The Minny game really doesn't do it for me anymore. I really like playing Wisky and Nebby, though.

I've always like when Iowa goes to the Outback. Don't know why since I have yet to experience it in person, but like that bowl and usual match-up. I also always liked the Holiday bowl back in the day. Capital-One kind of on same level for me. Everything else is down a tier, IMO. Well, except the Rose Bowl of course, but we are talking about the best of the rest bowls.

Ok, you lost me. Maybe I'm too old.

No one cares what you did against our hobbled OLine and QB. They want to see a big name program in bowl games, that isn't a complete bore to watch. The TV ratings will illustrate that.
"

I wish I could take credit for this but I can't. This came from Miller in his latest podcast. "Some of these guys are still crusing in their T-top Camaro's blasting Kool & the Gang while rocking their mullets.

Yea I caught that and it was a good line. I chuckled. You think it would be to the point where it is a bit embarrassing holding onto the past that tight, but apparently not for them. There is a thread comparing this years Alabama team to the 1995 Nebraska team asking who is better.
