Nebraska implosion in 5...4...3...2...1

Don't take too much pleasure in others misfortunes. Nebby may be in a position to finish their stain of a season on a high note by beating Iowa on Black Friday.
Yep. I am certainly enjoying their season, but putting a blemish on Iowa's season may be all they have to play for at that point. I just don't see their spirits getting crushed enough to give up in that game.

Argued football this season with a Nebby fan. I was hit with the "Well, when is the last time Iowa won a national title?". Don't talk football with a UNL fan. Your IQ lowers through osmosis.

Technically, there has only been one national champion (Ohio St.).

I'll save the gloating for after the Hawkeye's beat them.

Even then, won't have any need to gloat. But I'll be able to walk around Omaha with my Hawk gear on...and see their faces...

Couple of my nebby friends told me this week "at least we will beat Iowa"....I simply smiled, said it could absolutely happen...then added...I'd be a great win for you, might even send you to a bowl game. I think one of them mentioned being really really good 20 years ago....

Some are reasonable fans, but many still think Iowa is far inferior, and many absolutely think they are one hire away from being right back to Elite. Very few embrace the fact they need to improve significantly just to even consistently be in the top 3-4 of the B1G.

We NEED to beat them.

I get that all the time still as well. Does it really matter that our "title" was 65 years ago, and theirs was 20 years ago...to them it does...a lot. Every year it means less. We've had 2 conference titles since their last one, but that means nothing to them...

I'm still waiting for their totally fabricated and BS "sell out" streak to end. Although the local corporate seat buys will keep it going...I know for a fact they've had businesses in the Omaha area buy up tix in past years to keep it going.

Beat them Hawks! Badly would be nice.

Yeah the hawks need to beat nebby to really create that rivalry. That loss last year was just terrible for the team after smacking them around for 3 qtrs. Even in 2012 that poorer hawk team barely lost to NU.

Win this year and the hawks have a decent record against nebby.

And I like the rivalry and last game of the year aspect. I always liked Minny the last game of year also.

I bet these words are posted prominently in the Iowa Football Facility.

"Our kids showed great character and resiliency in a tough environment," Eichorst said Sunday, "so it did play a factor. But in the final analysis, I had to evaluate where Iowa was."

When asked to clarify his comment about Iowa, Eichorst said, "As I looked back on the outcomes, I'm trying to look back at who are championship-caliber football teams at that moment and how competitive we were in those games.
"We weren't playing for a conference championship and neither was Iowa. I have great respect for Iowa. It's a great institution and a wonderful football program. But in the final analysis, their record was where it was and ours was where it was. Fair enough?"

Delusion at its finest. The two programs are literally a few plays/ball bounces away from identical records in most of the last 15 years. They have a hard time with reality.

A reminder of how potent emotion is in all competitive athletics. IMO, it is the difference between being good, and being great. Iowa has done awesome things in 2015 because they were slapped in the face physically and emotionally last year. I liked the fact one of our players said, "We wanna be bullies of the B1G again." If he had said, "Our first priority is to be the classiest in the B1G" I would've been forced to go ISIS on some people.

When did Eichorst say these words??

Curious, was it after Nebby came back to beat the hawks last year???

Not having ever lived West of Des Moines...I don't have the same disdain for Nebraska fans...but I'm learning. A good college buddy of mine grew up just 20 miles from Omaha.

The new reality is a bitter, bitter, pill for these Husker fans. But they better get used to it. They dumped Pellini... and got a downgrade. There's no recovering "the good ol' days" now.

According to Lee Barf-tard, the Shuckers should NEVER, EVER lose to Illinois and Northwestern in the same season. They are entitled to be above such possibilities.

What about losing to illinois, nw, purdue, and Rutgers in the same season. That would be awesome beyond words...and it's not unthinkable.

Illinois and nw...both better than most of the isu, Kansas teams that were guaranteed wins almost every year for nebby.

They'll come down to reality eventually, but until then, I want that fanbase to get it beat in to them over and over and over that the mid 90's, or anything remotely close, is not happening. Once they admit a 9 win season is pretty good, sometimes very good, maybe, just maybe, I won't delight in their losses...but probably not

I think someone forgot to tell Nebby that when they joined the BIG they were supposed to bring a D and play some defense.

One need not have lived in WDM. In Mason City not even including a former head coach there were a number of former 'sker players on the teaching staff as well as a former AD who were part of the Blackshirt squad @ UNL. There was no escaping the flag-waving self-entitled Nebby fans up there.
