Nebraska Illinois Friday game

Illinois looks legit, so does Nebraska until that OT series
That OT series was a trainwreck. Nebraska fans are going to say they got robbed on that potential personal foul call on 3rd & Des Moines, but I think the refs got it right. It was a bang-bang play IMO.

I didn't think I would say this, but overall I was actually pretty impressed with the quality of play by both teams.

Everytime I watch teams that incorporate the quarterback running I am more convinced Kirk has to retire. If McNamara can't get done vs MN Lester needs to be given free reign.

I always wonder how Iowa would look against teams like that- the answer is. (Excluding the last 2 years) They look just fine. They allow fewer big plays and get fewer.

Great game. So many twists and turns. Nebraska had a TD overturned by replay and ruled an interception by Illinois instead. Otherwise Neb would have pulled away in the 2Q. Still Nebraska had a chance to win it on a long drive in 4Q but the drive stalled and Neb missed the FG. After that, Illinois dominated the OT.

Every time Neb seems ready to turn the corner, they blow another game late in the 4Q. Does not matter who the coach is.

The loss makes 31 one-score defeats for the Bugeaters since 2018, nine more than any other FBS squad.
So very happy for them and their arrogant delusional fans who are still living in the distant past.

Good quarterback play and good coaching and they still can’t get out of their own way.

I like that.

My wife doesn't like it when I say stuff like Cuck the Fuskers. You know, stuff like that.
She was OK with Ratt Mule. Not sure she even understood me.
Apparently I was half asleep (long, long week of visiting assisted living communities with my folks and the ensuing 'battle' of decision day on Saturday) during the Minnesota game. Apparently, in my fog I was really really mean to PJ. Like really mean. Something about if you dipped his head into a vat of purple candlewax he would look exactly like a certain body part. Apparently I didn't stop there and went on and on, trashing him.

Which I got away with. Because she doesn't like him either. She thinks he tries to look like a European soccer coach/manager. She just doesn't know much about Ratt. He comes across to me as the guy who lives up the street that we never interact with who gets annoyingly drunk and inappropriate at subdivision gatherings and hangs out at the pool ALL THE TIME.

Rhule is quickly becoming a coach that is easy to dislike. Every second a camera is on him during a game he is ENDLESSLY chirping into a ref's ear, complaining, badgering, complaining, badgering, complaining. God, give it a REST. Annoying beyond belief. Perhaps that Jr. High stuff worked in the B12, but if his record is any indication, it's sure not helping him in the BTen.
While on the subject of coaches, I don't think I've ever heard PJ Fleck be as complimentary to an opponent as he was to Iowa in his postgame presser. He gave the Iowa OLine LOTS of love. Not sure why they gave up on their run game completely at the start of the 3rd quarter. I have a hunch after this year the bloom will be off him, as it eventually came off Ferentz, and Campbell at ISU. The Big College Boys and the NFL want coaches who are winning NOW, not having consecutive 6-6 years.

I watched his interview and thought, “Well, maybe we should not hate this guy.”
