Nebraska has the perfect HC, as far as I'm concerned.

What's better, is ILL has NO TIME outs, and Debby cud have ran the ball and left ILL with less than 10 secs left. Instead throw incomplete pass on 3rd down, give ILL 50 secs to drive the field (which you can do in college with all the clock stoppages). Also, could have punted on 4th down and made ILL drive an extra 15 or 20 yards there, but did not. I think KF gave Mike Reilly his old DNA (and KF maybe took over Pelini's DNA or something?)

Nice... I actually like Riley, but feel bad for him. It's gotta suck to be him in the mental asylum that is Nebraska right now.

A lot of Husker fans actually believe their high expectations are why they achieved 5 national titles. Sure it had nothing to do with having Osborne and Devaney, two legendary coaches over a 40 year period <sarcasm>. Nebraska was on par with Iowa State before Devaney got there.

That program is in some serious trouble. I think they are still paying BC and know they are paying BP and it looks like that whole program needs a high colonic. Complete dumpster fire!
They literally fired a coach who averaged 9 wins a year for this. He was a complete *** bag but you traded him for this. Wow

I didn't see that part. Why the hell would you throw the ball if you can run the ball and run the clock down to 10 or 15 seconds? That is beyond words dumb.

It is being described on their boards and The Twitter as "the worst clock mismanagement in the history of college football".

I guess Kurt is off the hook

Really no middle ground with Tommy Armstrong he is either really good or really bad......and it literally seems to change quarter by quarter.

Apparently it was a called bootleg, but Armstrong was instructed to NOT throw the ball....then he threw it anyway. Can't fix stupid...

Kurt ain't alone......there is a long list of coaches who struggle with clock management college and pro.

Fire a 9 win football coach should equal purgatory. Nebby has done it twice now! The first time got them what they deserved. It looks like history is repeating itself.

When they fired Solich, they triggered the same karma-jinx as we did when we fired Mr. Davis. The only way to reverse it is for them to invite Solich back for a halftime honoring.

Nebraska had many built in advantages..namely the old BIG8.. Beat up on the sisters of the poor.Play OKIe and hopefully win..Get up for one or two other games in the season. I'm too lazy to look, but did all of the championships occur during the mythical titile era?

Their expectations need to get in line with reality.

If the coaches instructed not to throw it, then it wasn't bad clock management. I bet the odds of winning that game if they run on 3rd down then punt was about 99.99%. Worst case scenario, Illinois has to go 80 yards in about 15 seconds. Then when it can't get any worse, you're still a virtual lock to win and you give up a bomb over the top! Wow that's bad. If that happened to Iowa iit would take years to get over.

Nebraska was a sub .500 team before Devaney got there in 1962. I think they were like a .35 team from 1945-1961. That's like on par with Iowa State. Most, if not all, of Nebraska's success can be attributed to Devaney and Osborne and that's it. It has almost nothing to do with fan expectations.

Nebraska can thank Iowa for their surge when Devaney arrived. Had we not moved Evy to AD when he retired from coaching after the 1960 season, we could very well have ended up the power program in the Midwest rather than Nebraska. We were well on our way to doing just that until Evy's ego ruined everything.
