Mike Riley won more games with less talent.
In all seriousness, frost will improve the team and likely develop them better. He'll get them back to competitive levels most likely. They will have a very good offense, unless the qb gets hurt. The x factor is if he can build/develop O and D lines and a defense, which he 1) hasn't shown he can yet and
2) and this us the big one.... something nebby fans dont remember being the most important part of why the were great in the 90's. Their lines and defense were absolutely loaded with freaks. Scotty owes his natty to 3 guys who skipped high draft picks, and about 3 others who could have gone pro...to win one more for Osborne. About 8 players on those lines and defense had multiple year pro careers.
But he isn't winning nattys, or consistent conf titles, and THAT is exactly what a huge majority of that delusional fanbase thinks is going to happen. And they think its gonna be within 2 years.
I give him credit on recruiting, especially Martinez, cause that kid was the reason they didn't have 2 wins this year, and he appears to be special. Frosts success is all about that kid right now.
We'll see. As of now, they need to get back to Pelini levels of success and beating Wisc, NW, and Iowa before thinking anything else.

Some of you guys are getting way out over your skis. Frost sounds like a pompous ass sometimes, but his team damn near beat us in Kinnick a month ago....in his first year. They're only going to get better. Learning when to stop talking...is an important skill. Embrace it.

Yeah, they'll get better and likely a tough game. No reason it shouldn't be.
I dont say a word, and haven't for 6 years, they still talk shit like we aren't even on their level. They've been way over their skis for 20 years.
The funny thing is I can actually respect their history and success, but F these fans. It's not like they are some scary juggernaut just waiting to be unleashed....that shit ain't coming back, for a lot if reasons.

Nebraska had good recruiting classes every year under Riley and they still sucked. Until they realize good recruiting classes full of skill players, but completely lacking toughness and tenacity in the trenches is a recipe for losing seasons in the B1G, then they’ll continue to suck.

Yeah because we just steamrolled them in Kinnick this year. I think they put up over 400 yards against our defense though didn't they?
The same defense they put up 400 yards on with a true freshman qb in Kinnick this year? I am betting they beat us next year in Lincoln. As much as it sucks to say, the days of us dominating them ended this year.

This just goes to show the power of the have's vs have-nots. The mystique of a Nebraska, UCLA, Notre Dame...it doesnt matter if they have been winning championships, kids just still want to go there. Tradition, history, boosters? Should be 6 straight losses to Iowa but, 5 out of 6. Yet that jersey gets the kids. Frost isnt cocky, he's a proud alumnus and he has expectations of winning. Its culture, its attitude. Believe it or not, KF expects to win every game, he just isnt as boisterous. Iowa is in the 30's recruiting every year, but just like with Goodson this year, there really are some 4* kids that dont get the love when they commit early to the Hawks. This class probably has 4-5 4* kids.

Nebraska came to the Big Ten thinking they could steam roll over schools like Iowa and that hasn't happened. They refused to acknowledge the Iowa/Nebraska rivalry like Iowa was beneath them. No amount of talk on here has any impact whatsoever on the field of play and if Nebraska turns the tables back on us then do you think they will suddenly be nice to us because we weren't talk crap today?
Come on, look a the bigger picture here. Here at Iowa we rarely get the opportunity to dish crap back so let's enjoy it. We are not going to win some kind of sportsmanship trophy by taking some kind of moral high road on a sports blog.
You just proved what a lot of people on here have been saying. If you have a subpar defense, you can rack up a lot of yards on offense and still lose.
Fans were predicting Michigan was going to steamroll us when Rich Rod took over and Denard Robinson was running wild. How did that turn out?

You mean a good offense that wants to spread you out and prefers to run first? That November stuff is just a canard at this point. They are not Texas Tech. Their offense isn't much different from Northwestern or Purdue, and those teams are doing pretty good against us right now. Their worst problem on offense going forward might be injuries to the running QB. Without Martinez, they win one or two games this year.

Nebraska sucked. We were steamrolling them...and our coaches made a tactical blunder and didn't kick the field goal to go up three scores. Stupid. I'll admit, Martinez got on a roll late in that game...but the reality is that everything is different when it's a three score game. I disagreed with every reason to try a fake field goal, you want to go for it, keep your offense on the field. The reality is that were WERE steamrolling them at that point. We gave them life and paid for it...plus a gutsy fake field goal at their 10 yard line...which would have ended the game if it backfired.
Why did we go for the fake field goal, because Martinez to that point, hadn't gotten his team in the end zone and they were down 15...and KF didn't think they could drive the length of the field.
Nebraska hasn't beaten us in 7 years...the 2014 game we gave to them on a silver platter...4 turnovers in the first half and 2 punt returns for TDs. You realize we've mule kicked them for several years now right. Let's wait for Scotty to get a win before you get on your knees in front of him.
