Nebraska and Iowa State bowl chances

Nebraska should just play Iowa State in Omaha. We'll call it the Hawkeye's Bitches Bowl.
Lol.
I actually like the match up. It would be a good game, throw in both teams having a cancellation and needing a make up game. Former b12 teams. Bowl bid on the line.
Those are the games where legendary things happen and people make a name for themselves.
Both coaches are out to and need to make a name and statement. What better way??

I think ISU and Nebraska will find themselves in the same spot that FSU was in last year.

The FSU Louisiana-Monroe game was canceled do to Hurricane Irma making landfall, FSU at first had no or little intention of rescheduling it. Then they started coming up short in the win column, FSU rescheduled the game to get to bowl eligibility.
Right. But ISU and Nebraska may have trouble doing the same thing, not because either of them are a threat to get to their respective conference's championship game, but because the cancelled opponents might (very well) be involved in theirs.
By the way, M1911A1Hawkeye, LOVE your picture. Maybe you also can open up one of the Hulka-burger Franchises.

I'm a Troy grad and I doubt Troy's chances against Nebraska. Even with Nebraska's freshman QB out. Troy was a powerhouse when they were in the lower division, but they have haven't done much since they moved up a division.
This game is a coin toss. Either Nebraska comes out and dominates the trenches and gets up 21 early and crushes Troy or else Troy wins this thing in the 4th quarter. The forecast is perfectly sunny with a high of 88 and 63% humidity. Troy will feel like they are playing in A/C after coming up from 'Bama and Nebraska will be sucking wind in the 4th quarter unless they have imposed their will on Troy for the first three quarters. So unless Nebraska puts this away early, they are going to lose it, IMHO.

Might not even pick up a win at Akron. It's not a gimme, especially if they are down a QB. Any word on that yet?
ISU is being predictably tight-lipped about it, while publicly saying things like, "We dodged a bullet" and "He is day-to-day." We haven't even gotten confirmation whether it was a knee or ankle.
Regardless of which one it is, assuming they are telling the truth that it is far less serious than they thought it was, prudence on those types of injuries is usually a minimum of two weeks out. But anymore, who really knows - think IKM (who is still out this week).

Agree. The crazy thing is Nebby is currently an 11.5 point favorite and the over/under is 58. I'd take Troy and the under all day. Troy was not intimidated by LSU last year so I don't see that happening with Nebby either.

Yeah, I don't see Troy being intimidated in this game. I suspect Nebraska is much better than them in the trenches and will end up blowing them out, but now that there is film on the offense my guess is Troy will have a much better game plan than Colorado had on defense so if it stays close, Troy will win it with the weather assist.

From the other thread about Hurricane Flo, I cant help but wonder if there will be a whole new pool of teams that need to make up a game, and the original team they were supposed to play this weekend may not be available.

So, just maybe another team will be available for both ISU and Nebraska where their bye weeks match up.

Nobody should count on a bowl bid until the 6th win is in the books. Not even Iowa.
Didn't we win 6 in 2007 and then get shafted out of a bowl game? That team was ready for a bowl game the way they handled Western Michigan on Senior Day.

I loved hearing the PA announcer change the phrase praising St. Kirk from "6 straight bowl appearances" to "bowl eligible 7 years in a row."

Yes, you are correct about 2007; but there are so many bowl games now, that 6 wins is a "guarantee." That 2007 team wasn't very good, if my memory serves me correctly.

I will be really disappointed if we win 6 games this year. This team has more talent than that.....

OMG, I would cream myself if Nebraska scheduled a makeup game and lost!

they want to schedule a cupcake. Nebraska v. Iowa State makes so much sense (and would be a great game), but neither team wants to play the other right now. Each team wants a "guaranteed" cupcake win.

With NC State/WVU, UCF/UNC and others being cancelled, there should be some interesting wrangling the next couple weeks.

Can I subscribe to your newsletter? The Blackshirts folded like a cheap suit in a key TD drive in the 4th quarter and Nebraska's offense looked like it was running in quicksand on the last drive.

Nebraska's chances at a bowl game are all but gone. Their last game will be at Kinnick this year. Hope we make it an Iowa victory!
