Nebby fan is delusional

Lmao " Nebraska's biggest rivalry is reality"
That's great.

Yeah I remember just like everyone else, when Nebraska said they were going to roll the b10. Finally in the last year I'm starting to see a few that have said that they are a stronger conference now. But as said the shear numbers of out of touch people around that program is staggering.

Nebraska fans, especially the craziest most delusional 10%, can’t see the shifting geography of football to the south. Scott frost could be the next nick saban for all I know, but the game has left the Midwest and the northeast behind and besides Ohio state and maybe Notre dame, its gone. Even Notre dame as gotten slaughtered both times it played for national titles (one was the Clemson playoff last year)

Thanks to the whole CTE thing, the game will be from here forward a southern game dominated by southern schools. Iowa can still be competitive against the big ten and lower tier southern schools (Mississippi state) and even PAC12 schools. However the tide is going out equally for Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska (and the rest of the big ten) Nebraska can become a decent Midwest program, but they’ll never be a national power.

Spot on. Even the Pac 12 struggles to make the playoffs. The game is losing young players, many of quality.

All they have to do is look at Penn St. history in the BIG 10. Penn St. thought they were going to come in and just dominate which never happened. Yes, they periodically have their good years but they don't dominate every year like they thought. As far as overall ranking, I see them as a lower top tier or higher 2nd tier team.

And Nebraska, DON'T DON'T tell me about all your c-ships in the BIG 8 conference. There should be an asterisk with those seasons. Really, 8 teams! Three of those teams are Kansas, Kansas St and Iowa St. Add Colorado. Compare apples to apples once.

The middle of the Big Ten and SEC are very solid. You have 7 or 8 consecutive conference games with very few cupcake games against the likes of Indiana or Vanderbilt, but the rest of the games against programs like Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue or Sparty in the B1G or the middle of the SEC are all tough games, particularly on the road. The middle of the Big 8, Pac 10 and ACC are just absolute trash. The attrition curve in the SEC and Big Ten are far and away the toughest in college football because a good program can go in and play a streak of at Nebraska, PSU, at Iowa and MSU in 4 weeks and end up losing one game by 31. It's really tough for programs to play at a high level for 4 straight weeks, but if you have a run like that and you are off one game, you're gonna lose. The old Big 8 had a lot of years where Oklahoma was the only quality competition for the entire season.

Spot on. Yep.

Their only two really tough teams they had to contend with were OK and Texas.

Meh idk, we have had some pretty good talent that came from the Midwest.
Last year 2 first rounders. AJ, Tristan.
The list is long of North of the Mason Dixon line talent.
Maybe population? Idk why it appears the way it does. But only so many get to play in HS no matter what location. Yes if you have 150 kids trying out you have a bigger pool to choose from. Maybe it's coaching at the HS level and resources committed to hs programs? Again idk.

Yeah, there's undoubtedly talent in the Midwest. However, look at this map (granted it is a few years old) of where NFL players were born:

Which is what I was saying, population, in conjunction with resources made to hs programs. That means coaches, weight rooms, ect. A program in Iowa in a hs of 300 is not going to invest as much into a program as somewhere in a hs of 1800.
However, I would also bet the avg GPA is higher in the smaller schools because that's where they spend their resources. But bigger schools can afford to spend on music programs and sports. So they should also be able to afford to invest in scholastic and maintain a high GPA as well.
I have not researched all of that, but I bet it's a pretty safe bet to say.
Which technically I would think someone would bring up to the government funding program, because that says there are a lot of schools and therefore kids at small schools who are at a disadvantage to persue their dreams. That's not equal and borderline discrimination.

Sorry that is so poorly written. I hope y'all get the jest of what I am saying.

Just look at the basic demographics of NFL talent by state or origin. They aren’t coming from the upper Midwest.

^That looks pretty bad for Iowa. Under-represented in proportion to population when compared to most other states.

I just had an exchange with a Nebraska fan. He started talking about them winning another national championship. I told him he ought to start with trying to beat Iowa.

Here is a fact he wasn't aware of:

Nebraska overall record since joining Big Ten starting with 2011 season: 60 wins 43 losses
Iowa during that same period: 63 wins 42 losses

Nebraska record v. Iowa since joining the Big Ten: 3 W 5L

Nebraska vs Tennessee from 1998 was just on BTN. Scotty was QB. In the 20 minutes I watched I don't think he threw one pass. Just a lot of pitches and runs. They yearn for those days.

Where they're born and where they're "from" are not always the same thing, although I would suspect many of the Iowa boys were born and raised in the state. Despite the numbers hurdle they're facing every year, Iowa does a particularly good job of identifying and developing talent. To wit, in 2018, Iowa was No. 16 on the list of colleges with the most players on NFL rosters.

Also to add. The P5 schools are not going anywhere... All those kids cant go to ACC and SEC schools. There is literally not enough room. The Big10 will be right there welcoming the leftovers and hidden gems.

The real elephant in the room for the Midwest is population. Georgia's population has nearly doubled bince 1980, Ohio's and Michigan's have grown by under 10%. Georgia is bigger than Michigan and catching Ohio quickly. Florida's population has gone from under 10 million in 1980 to over 22 million today, so while it was smaller than Ohio and barely bigger than Michigan in 1980, today it is bigger than both of them combined. Iowa and Nebraska respectively were about 2.9 million and 1.6 million in 1980. Today they are 1.9 and 3.1 million. Very little growth. Conversely, Alabama was about 3.9 million and is now about 4.9 million and South Carolina was 3.1 million and is now over 5 million.

The massive regional population shift to the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Bama and Texas is absolutely going to doom the Big Ten in terms of competitiveness. It already has. Couple that with the attitudes of when they get kids playing football and spring practices while the north is still frozen tundra and it does not look good for the Big Ten. A program like OSU might have that year or two where it has a few freaks and can compete, but most of the time, they are going to be the odd man out compared to the southern teams.
are baby boomers and hispanics moving into the south?

if they are then (1) baby boomers still having babies?
and
(2) do hispanics don't like football?

And developing them into All-Americans and high draft picks.

Won’t happen. They are no longer in the cupcake conference. The west winner may have two losses this year and then they still get the honor of getting their ass kicked by Michigan or Ohio State.

Two losses alone keeps you out of any National title hopes and a third loss and make those thoughts laughable.
