The most revolting thing about the passing yardage stat is the teams we faced thus far: Albany, one of the weakest teams in the nation when our WRs were running free all over the field; and Iowa St., whose safeties got torched for multiple long TD passes by KState.
I was willing to give Lester's NFL passing attack a chance, but after 1 1/6th years and multiple QBs, I'm afraid I'm off the Lester bandwagon when it comes to the pass game. There are likely multiple reasons why very few college teams run that offense. Maybe it's too complicated and WR and QB students don't have the time to learn or get on the same page. Maybe the # of college QBs who can run that offense is very small. I don't know the reason. But I know one thing for sure: it ain't workin'. And there is no progress being shown in Year 2. Zero. None. That's not opinion, that's fact. So, it's time to move on and hire a Passing Coordinator who can work within the run schemes Lester wants to run. But this should not be allowed to continue into Year 3. To do so would be coaching malpractice, and in this day and age would not be put up with by any other university.

This. No one is happy with the pass game two games in. But I'm willing to let the season play out to see what the overall results are. With the understanding that many are not that patient.

Yeah let the season play out and get into the basketball season

Might as well enjoy watching our beloved Hawkeyes on the field, hoping for at least a 7-4 record

What result can play out now where you'd be happy exactly? Two games in and we're already destined to another worthless bowl game. There use to be a time when losing to Iowa St. was a bad thing. Apparently not anymore.

Like I said, I am willing to let the season play out. Yes, I said that I wasn't happy with the results so far but I don't think we are destined to see zero improvement for the remainder of the season either. And I don't think two games in our destiny has been determined.

Lester is hamstrung by Ferentz. The entire time he's been here we still have zero idea what his offense would look like. None whatsoever.

It's why I would be fine with seeing what he could do as HC.

There really isn't a downside to letting Lester take over. If he goes 2-10 what's the difference? In the current B1G the Hawks are never going to the playoffs or winning the B1G anyway, why not have some fun and go buck wild?

If Iowa was in a Penn State or Oregon or OSU situation then yeah, the HC hire is make or break your program. Iowa's not in the same area code as that situation so take the chains off and let the man cook. Who cares what the record is at the end of the year? It literally does not matter. In college football today the only thing that matters as a measure of being elite is either winning your conference or making the playoffs. Iowa isn't ever doing any of that no matter who the coach is as long as we have OSU, UM, PSU, and UO in our conference. I say go crazy and see what happens. After the conference championship games and playoffs it's just a Roto-Rooter Bowl vs Circle-K Bowl situation...who cares?

Newsflash, Poindexter...even if Iowa beats ISU there's ZERO chance Iowa wins the B1G or makes the playoffs. Not sure if you heard or not, but there are 18 teams in the Big Ten now, and they include the #1, 2, 4, 9, 22, and 23rd ranked teams.

So you tell us...exactly what scenario can play out that would make you happy?

Even if Iowa beats ISU it's just fighting for some lower-level bowl game. I'd love to hear how you think it's not. If your whole bar for a successful season is beating ISU, then I don't even know why you'd pay attention or care about football.

And go into that basketball season expecting a likely losing record. Then you're not disappointed.

Don't be a nebraska fan expecting the world to change by bringing in a Hoiberg.

Sorry Mr. Positivity, but two games in, and one of those games being a rivalry game that generally comes down to the wire, is far from "being destined to another worthless bowl game". I'm not saying that I'm happy about the ISU loss and agree its a bad thing, but there's 10 games left. I'll agree that the passing games definitely a concern, but come on there's still 10 games left. You've got every right to be upset and disappointed at this point in the season, but with that mentality if I were you I think I'd find another team to support.

To be totally honest, even if the Hawks beat ISU it's still just a race to see what bowl game you end up at. Looking at the bowl schedule, what's the difference if you go to the "StaffDNA Cure Bowl" or the "Myrtle Beach Bowl?"

For all but 12 teams in FBS, it pretty much comes down to the old folks crowd wishing and hoping the Hawks get a bowl in a city they want to vacation at like Nashville or Tampa or New Orleans. It's really just a vacation destination thing for a game that doesn't mean anything in terms of the actual football season. It's, "Does Iowa play UCFor Boston College?" Hard to get pumped up or invested in that kind of thing.

For me, I'd never personally spend $3 grand on a vacation based around a football game, and most people wouldn't. That's kind of why I have a hard time getting stoked about football anymore. When you don't have a shot at the conference title or the playoffs, where's the excitement anymore? Do I hope the Hawks go 10-2? Of course. But even if they do they ain't getting in the B1G game and they ain't getting in the playoffs. They'd have to beat Oregon, PSU, Indiana, nebraska, Wisconsin, and a host of others in the same season which ain't happening. It used to be if the Hawks went 10-2 with divisions they had at least a chance of some kind of miracle happening and there was something on the line when you're watching, but not anymore.

You're right, but there's still mid level bowls that spark interest. I'm just saying he's following the wrong team if he's calling it a season after week 2.
