Navon Shabazz Decommits

Not sure if anyone saw this over the weekend, but Shabazz decommitted on Saturday and the next day gets an offer from Fran at Penn. Not really shocked as Ben probably decided he wasn't what he wanted at Iowa. I like that he's particular about who he brings in to fit what he's doing. No need to waste a scholarship on someone that doesn't work in your system. Fran would take just about anyone.

Yeah this seems interesting to me. Only in that there's been some time that's gone by now. At one point in April he'd 'reaffirmed' his commitment to Iowa since Bens hiring. I wonder what's changed. He's the kid that had been playing for Dean Oliver over in Dsm area and had been recruited largely by Gatens. I'm kinda bummed cause he's an Iowa kid. 6'3 combo guard who's game impresses me from what I've seen of him. Kid is put together and athletic.

It's not coincidental that Fran reached out 30 seconds after. He's just that type of guard he'd love to have. It'll be interesting where he ends up

He did say that he is still open to picking Iowa. It's understandable that he would want to look around when the coach that he originally committed to is no longer there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Badara Diakite ended up going to Penn, that is if he can get in.

In listening to a couple of Ben's interviews, he's been pretty consistent in saying the first criteria they look at in a recruit, no matter what the situation is, can they play in the B1G. So, any high school or portal guy yet to come in will have to pass that test. I have no problem with that.

This kid is a class of 26 player so that totally remains to be seen. I'd just be curious to know if this was the kid changing his mind or if it was Ben. Cause a month ago or so it seemed like both parties were good with him still being committed to Iowa. I could see it being either way. Kids change their minds all the time so that's not craziest thing ever even if it's only been a month. And maybe Ben had taken a little more time to do his homework on him and decided that the kid should look elsewhere.

Ben also keeps saying his players have to be humble and willing to serve. In this day and age this seems like it could be a pretty tall order. Plus being to play in the B1G!!

Well if Fran want's him then he likely isn't making playing defense a top priority. In that case I wish him luck at Penn a nothing team. Seriously???? Penn over any BIg Ten team......... think about it.

No shit with this younger generation. A bunch of spoiled brats. (I could have used another word that start's with the letter "B" with the adjective "Little" before the B.

You have to understand that my wife and I have worked hard our whole life to have the home we are in now. We are surrounded by a bunch of late twenty to lower thirty year olds BYU grads living in $900K homes around us. Don't get me wrong there are moderate to lower priced neighborhoods that is not made up on an entitlement people. Originally, we were told that basement's couldn't be rented out and that only immediate family members could live in your basement's. That meant people who could actually afford them. Meaning late 40 to 50 or 60 ish age groups. After we moved in the city changed that requirement and now we are surrounded by a bunch of YUP's.

GREAT!!! My financial adviser lives out here in our neighborhood and tells me "these young people are maxed out financially............... unlike you and your wife." I wonder how many of them have to use a step ladder to get up inside of their pickup trucks. Are visualizing what I am around?
