National brackets

Are we missing something here? At least in years past, I was certain that the "at-larges" were announced almost immediately after the conclusion of the Big 10 tournament. Am I wrong? What has changed?

I think the system changed. It used to be that after the conference tournament the the conference was given so many wildcards and the coaches voted them in. Now a committee is in charge of the wildcards.

I honestly think Brody's shot at a wildcard would go up if he weren't a Hawkeye. His resume should get him in, he's got plenty of quality wins. I have no clue whose on the committee picking wildcards, but it seems that most people in wrestling community will take a shot at Iowa any chance they get.

If they go strictly by the numbers, Grothus is in. He has the highest RPI, most wins against guys that have already qualified for Nationals, third highest winning percentage versus D-1 competition. Unfortunately, his finish in the conference tourney will work against, but the Ohio State 49'lber, who finished 7th at the B1G tourney is also on the wildcard list. They are taking 4 wild cards at 149.

Brackets will be released tonight and they will announce the qualifiers on twitter at noon today
