I think if he can survive his first season or two in Champaign, he could be really special by the time he's done.

Really... the kid would've been a RS Freshmen this year at Iowa. He would've been sandwiched in between Vandenberg/Wienke and Derby plus the new recruit from SoFla. Agree he would've been a great get- but with the allure of early playing time in a spread offense, Illinois probably looked like a great option to showcase himself at QB.

He can't both be a winner and be at Illinois with Ron. The two are mutually exclusive.
