Nate Stanley NFL Draft Position?

Day 3 most likely, long shot at Day 2 if a team sees something they need or improves his stock before the draft?

Good Stanley is probably a top 5, maybe top 3 QB in this draft (I ain't sold on Tua or Jalen). Bad Stanley is an undrafted free agent who even if he musters a call to camp is going to get cut on the first round of cuts in the preseason. There is too much Bad Stanley tape out there.

Been a lot of QB injuries and turmoil in NFL this year. That has to impact in the draft.

If he looks good in our bowl game and then at a senior bowl or one of those post season deals where it's coached by an NFL staff then does well in the combine he could totally skyrocket up the boards into the 2nd roundish. Now if he does poorly/ looks inconsistent (which is his tendency) I would suppose he'll be in the mid to later rounds but just with his size arm and 3 yrs of playing time behind him he'll be taken. The Steelers seems like such an obvious landing spot to me it probably won't happen. But it's just hard telling who might fall in love with him.

Stanley will definitely get drafted. I'd guess anywhere from late round 4 to early round 7.

If you truly believe Stanley might fall to the 7th then your first sentence is wrong. Anyone that’s got a chance to fall to the 7th round could go undrafted.

I would say late.

He would be a perfect Patriots project. They could work with him for 3 years then trade him for a 1st round pick.

Yeah, definitely a project. Get him in studying film and learning where to go with the rock. I am not sure he can hit a small window, though. CJB can and I think if he gets to ride pine for another year and then gets a shot with a decent offense, he could be good. I think the odds of Stanley panning are way lower than CJB, though.

Nate Stanley is big-bodied, durable, has a live arm, and has a long body of work. He should also at least come close to the 26-27-60 rule for drafting QBs:

26 College Starts: Stanley will have 39 after the bowl

27 on the Wonderlic: CJB got 26, Stanzi got 30 for comparison

60% Completion Rate: He's not gonna hit this for career numbers, but he's got it for his Sr. year

Basically, if Rudock can get drafted, Stanley will be.

I would think a lot of teams would think, "This kid has some talent and we have the coaching talent to turn him into a nice NFL QB, hope we can get him 'on the cheap.'" Which is how great NFL teams become and remain great.

I wonder if Stanley can do this very well? I mean, we did see him on the ground quite a bit, but maybe he can make a living in the NFL being a place holder

Being a good QB in college is a bit like being a 7 foot basketball player. Somebody in the pros will give you a shot, whether you stick or not remains to be seen.

Rudock is still earning an NFL paycheck on the practice squad.

Punters are placeholders now anyways, since taking away the 2nd string QB takes their practice reps away as well.

A lot will depend upon how he performs at whichever exhibition bowl he plays in (Senior Bowl, etc.). I'm sure GMs have mixed feelings about him, but if he shows accuracy and leadership there's no doubt he'll get drafted. My guess is GMs probably have a wide range of opinions on him, but it only takes one to really like him.
