Nate Meier to DE?

Clay Matthews played everywhere on that line this year. Against the Bears he was inside, hand down, then outside hand down, then outside standing.....if a guy can play, he can play. You have written off Meier before even seeing him on the practice field because of dimensions....good for you. Matt Roth was another lber in HS who ended up at D-end at Iowa. But,of course,Meier has no shot to ever get on the field, according to the formula.

I am not writing him off. I am just saying your reasoning was not valid.

Hell, Broderick Binns is 6'1. How about Meier just be as good as him?

BTW: Matt Roth is 6'4"

Oops, fail again. Seriously, just because a guy played a position in high school doesn't mean he is the same as everyone else who played the same position in high school.

Mitch King and Matt Kroul were both high school LBs as well.

Of course I'm serious. Getting in on a few special teams plays in one game is not my idea of a well used year of eligibility.

YOu need to do more homework before spouting off. The reason Meier played only one game was a leg injury. It is very possible he will be able to receive a medical year and have four years left to play. Thus the year would not be a wasted one as you imply.

The combination of Drew Ott and Nate Meier will be an unstoppable force and the DE spots for years to come. They are both play like pit bulls.

Good point. They have loosened the rules on this evidently because Michigan QB Drew Gardener played in three games as frosh, then had a back problem, and was recently awarded an extra year to play....of course that could be because he will now be the starting QB for the next two years at Michigan..and the league likes Michigan to be good. The Big Ten makes this call on extra medical redshirts now.

Again, Caar..thanks for buttressing my point....Binns, King, Kroul ect join Leroy Smith as smaller guys who excelled on the d-line. Glad you are allowing that you are not absolutely ''writing him off'' before he has seen the field...very gracious.

Morehouse didn't mention this in his article and I don't remember reading anything anywhere about him getting injured.
