Name the things Kirk learned from Hayden Fry?

Hayden is clearly better. For instance, last year was Kurt's 14th year of coaching at Iowa. By then, you'd expect him to build moar that a 4-8 record would indicate. It only shows what a pathetic failure he is that the program fell that far after he clearly gave up.

On the other hand, Hayden, in his 14th year at Iowa, went into the season ranked #16!

And finished 5-7.

You're wondering if the Cleveland Browns offensive line coach would consider a Big 10 head coaching position in any scenario?

I really think people forget how TERRIBLE Hayden's teams were at the end. I will never forget sitting in the Metrodome watching Hayden lose to Minnesota by SIX FREAKING TOUCHDOWNS in his final game. Oh yeah, he also lost at home to Iowa State and lost at Indiana on his way to a 3-8 season.

Hayden had one "terrible" team. And for god sakes...do your homework. It came out upon Hayden's retirement that he was battling cancer at the same time he was coaching. I'll give the man a pass on that final 3-8 season. He earned it.

Yes, the program was thin on talent when Kirk was hired. But he had the infrastructure, reputation, etc that Hayden built. He took over a much better situation than Hayden did. And he rejuvenated it nicely. Then he got soft.

Exactly, Hayden would have never stalled out after a decade like Kurt did. After Hayden went 10-1 in 1991, he didn't crap the bed with all of the momentum going forward liek Kurt did after 2009.

It's an interesting topic. I don't even the most hardcore fan of KF can really argue that he had the same level positive impact on Iowa football. That said, we are spanning over 3 decades with this comparison, there are so many variables it's like apples vs oranges.

No more comparison for me, I've enjoyed seasons under both, and went through frustrating times for both. There truely are arguments pro/con for both.

We are in a tough stretch, likely the best we are looking at is 6-7 wins this year (the likelyhood of this will be greatly determined over the next 3 games, lose 1 of those...and we won't likely go bowling).

Memories are short, fan expectations are all over the place and are highly subjective.

Hayden is legendary, can't be duplicated...ever. KF's story isn't finished yet, but he will never reach Fry's status, and I think even he would laugh at the idea that is even possible.

Is Tiger better than Jack....depends who you ask...but really just as pointless of a debate.

Jack is a legend.
Tiger is a philandering scumbag and will go down in history as such.

Number of Rose Bowls under Hayden? Number under Kurt?

Haters gonna hate. why so jelly?

I love Jack, and Arnie, and Watson, and SuperMex, and Hogan, and all the legends....many of them had trim in a few different ports....and have a few ex wives...

But hey, your welcome to your hate. Tiger is the best currently playing...by far....

Did someone change this to the PGA board?

[newthread]Hayden achieved what only visionary coaches liek Ron Zook and Bert Beliemia can achieve...making the Rose Bowl with less than 10 wins.[/thread]
DOESN'T MATTER. If a 16 year old goes on a date with a fatty and loses his v-card does he carry around that asterisk forever or does he say "don't care, had sects"?

Jack's the man. Tigress won't catch Jack's record. That's all I care about.
