Ha! That was funny. Never heard that before. You could hear someone laughing during the call too.
1) Why did it take so long?
2) I wonder what GhostofBTT thinks about it.
3) The guy will try to run the offense like O'Keefe did and will come up short.
4) By the end of October, this board will be inundated with "Bring back O'Keefe" threads and folks waxing poetic about the glory days under O'Keefe similar to the way everyone misses Alford on the BB board.
5) By mid-November, the calls for Erb to become the new OC will be loud.
6) I hope we did not give a long, guaranteed contract with a big buyout.
7) Was he really the best guy for the job?
8) Did we run through internal options?
9) Did no one good want the job?
10) Has O'Keefe moved from IC yet? Is it too late to ask him to come back?
Well, looks like OK4P was proven right in many of the bold predictions above, save for Erb being asked to take over as OC.
I live in the Northwest, so the Miami vs. Seattle game was being shown here yesterday.
As the Dolphins moved the ball in the closing minutes (on the Steel Curtain Seahawk D, no less), they had a couple shots of the Dolphins' booth. Ol' Sherman and O'Keefe might as well been out for a Sunday stroll. Completely confident, relaxed, dialed in. Not saying I know for sure that O'Keefe was calling the plays, but you ever see a WR coach up in the box, whispering to the offensive coordinator during the two minute drill? Pretty sure Sherman is just the coordinator in name only - maybe Philbin had to give him the title over O'Keefe since he'd already been a head coach in the league.
All I'm saying is that Belichick and Brady and Welker, and McCarthy and Rodgers and Driver, couldn't do to the Seahawks this season what O'Keefe did with Tannehill and Bess yesterday. Last minute, game winning drive on the Seattle D. Think of what O'Keefe will be able to do once he gets some real talent?
On the drive in this morning, nothing but complaints on the local sports shows regarding how the Seahawks fell apart on defense. I just chuckled. Nothing much a defense can do when a head coach turns the offense over to O'Keefe and let's him do his thing. Crisp two minute drill, precise clock management, keeping the defense guessing...just 'ol Ken doing his thing.
Love it. O'Keefe had a crappy two minute offense here because of the stupid practice restrictions and the lack of good players who wanted to play at Iowa. I will laugh when he lands a promotion in the NFL and has a good team. Dude can flat out coach. Watch him talk Kurt into taking a job in the League and bringing him over and they'll run an offense that looks better than the Saints.
OK4P for prez...or at least the 2012 Nostrodamus award weiner.
