My level of optimism dropped after Saturday

.....so, you're thinking 2009 kind of defense? That's reassuring. A top 10 NCAA defensive ranking is exactly what KF needs. I'm gonna hold you to that comment. Hope it works out for us.

Are you serious? I am sensing a little bit of sarcasm. 9 of the 11 starters on that '09 D were NFL draft picks and Greenwood made it to the final round of cuts with the Steelers. This year's D may have 3 guys. All you can hope for is more consistency out of the back 7 and Meier or whoever can contain the edge at that end spot.

Pagel? He played 1999-2002. I also believe that this defense will have more than 3 in NFL. JJ, Ott, and King are the best bets. The sophomores in the front 7 have the ability. Meier could find a role on a 3-4 team. Bazata is talented and young. Niemann and Jewell look like future draft picks. Last year was Lomax's first year at safety, this spring however he is looking like a guy that can make it too. I probably missed a few younger guys that will work up to that level too.

Kirk is a front man for Viagra now?

You know I meant Greenwood. The D has the potential to be better than last year, but it will not come close to that '09 defense.....no bleepin way.

Man from listening to everyone maybe it's a good thing I didn't get to watch it.
Spring practice is just another season to give reason for Kirk-haters to hate.

I'm thinking there will probably be reason to this fall. There's plenty of time to bank it until then

This is a sinking ship. This year will be ugly ... Fan apathy will continue to grow ... Attendance will be down ... and Iowa football will firmly establish itself in line with the Northwesterns and Illinois' of the conference. Listening to Kirk ... seeing the state of the program with sveral mediocre recruiting classes, an AD who grasping at anything to save his job ... Now we think night games and extended tailgaiting are going to somehow make up for the fact we have become a shi& program ...

This is sad ... seeing the program fall so far ... Winning 7 games last year but in reality we would have finished 4-8 again if our schedule was anything but cupcake ... Next year, and therafter, the big boys are back on the schedule ... This program will see nothing above 6 wins in the next 3-4 years ... It will continue to get worse folks ... I just can't believe Kirk is still walking the sidelines ... And that some fans continue to support a coach who makes $4 million a season but has been .500 the past few years ... and we haven't been ranked for a few years as well ...

This is embarrassing ... It's sad ... I used to have season tickets for 10 years ... Now ... I DVR Iowa fotball games ... Yes, I have tuned out that much ... Not a fair-weather fan here... Been a diehard for 35 years .. former I-Club board member ... season ticket holder ... I am just done with Kirk and this staff ... It was time for a change about 2-3 seasons ago ... Yet ... only at Iowa do give Kirk a 17th year ... and only at Iowa do some fans say Kirk will get this ship headed in the right direction ...

Listen koolaid drinkers ... Kirk is done at Iowa ... DONE ... He will not turn this around ... The only question that remains is will here 1 or 2 more years ... If Kirk is not asked to ride off into the sunset after this year I will not commit 1 penny to this program ... Kirk needs to be gone ... Now ... The longer he remains the longer it will take this program to ever become relevant again ... Remember, we were TROUNCED by Minnesota ... MINNESOTA ... And Tennessee ... made us look like a junior college team. This is so similiar to the end of the Hayden regime ... It's time for a change ... No ifs, ands, or buts ...

A little bit of sarcasm? If 9 players on this year's defense get drafted, I'll donate to the KF contract extension fund.

I feel your pain bro. I've grew up a TN vols fan & a Iowa fan. Watching the TN program go from being SEC powerhouse to not even making bowls was down right depressing! It finally looks like the Vols are back on the right track now I'm seeing Iowa head towards that same hole. I just don't see a bright future with coach Ferentz anymore. I'm really surprised there hasn't been a change by now. If Ferentz puts together another season like this last one I just don't see how Barta can keep him here. Coach Ferentz has done a lot for the program and has been a damn good coach. But let's be honest ever since the Orange bowl it's been mainly down hill for our Hawks. From watching us last yr anyone can see that there's just not much talent on the field. When watching some of this past seasons gms we looked outmatched quite a bit. And it really showed in the Bowl gm. It's hard to see a coach go that's been there as long as Ferentz, but making the $ that he's making he should be doing a lot more than what he is. I loved when Fulmer was at TN. He had the highest wining percentage of any coach in the NCAA for 13 of the 16 yrs he was there. But I believe that Ferentz is going the same route Fulmer did. He got way to comfortable in his job and the recruiting started to drop off and when you can't get good players it doesn't matter how good of a coach you are. You can't win without talent and it's really starting to show on the field with our Hawks. Ferentz in a way reminds me a lot of Fulmer he's to set in his old ways. I just don't see Ferentz turning it around now. I personally think that the new college gm is passing him by.
