My goodness, enough of this "we gifted them a win" nonsense

Iowa didn’t gift wrap Wisconsin a 4th and 1 stop on a QB sneak at the 6-yard line or holding the hawks to 3-points on a 1st and goal from the 5-yard line.

I get the hand wringing over the mistakes but it’s part of the game. There were still plenty of other chances to end the game and it didn’t happen. Tip your cap and move on.

I will tip my cap to them for making plays when they had opportunities. But we certainly gifted them some opportunities. And we could have called a pass on fourth down an waltzed into the end zone. But in order to do that you have to actually call the play. It works a LOT in that situation.

A team that wants to play in the conference championship game would have scored more than three points on those two possessions inside the five. And we are very capable of that, but we didn’t do it there. So based on that I would say we “kind of” gifted those situations to them.

But we REALLY gifted the punts to them. While you can say wey didn’t gift wrap those two possessions that we didn’t score inside the ten, wey certainly gift wrapped the two punts wey botched and there is obviously no getting around that or you would have brought them up. We gave them a ten yad TD drive and we gave up a chance at a 45 yard drive.

So, yes, we gift wrapped that game for them. But I can still tip my cap to them for making plays. That doesn’t take us off the hook as culpable for or own mistakes.

We didn't "gift" them anything, actually.
A gift is an intentional act.

Did Meyers step on that ball on purpose?
If so, then yes, that was a gift.

You know what it was tho?
A MISTAKE.
A big one.
A mistake inferior teams make.

Sometimes the team that commits more penalties has more penalty yardage. Funny how that works.
True and Wisconsin felt their wrath. Overcame it too! Remember it was at YOUR HOUSE on prime time. That setting generally favors the home team. You continue to whine! Very unbecoming!

I disagree. I think if we play that game 10x with Van Ginkel out, Iowa wins at least 7, probably 8 of them. That is a very average Wisconsin team and I'm sure Ferentz was on the refs ass which helped us get some of those holding calls. Of course, they'll get away with their bullshit holding pretty much every week and the dumbasses who do NFL drafting will be all like "Oh man, this [insert this year's version of Gabe Carimi] kid is a beast" and then when he gets to the NFL and can't hold he will suck ass.

Van ginkle did play and had a few good plays

It's tough when Badgers have to overcome the refs making the correct calls against them.

It was clear that the bad-ger QB’s arm was not going forward when AJ stripped the ball from him. Iowa had the clear recovery, and that should have been Iowa’s ball in great scoring position.

Parker Hesse was clearly held and tackled by the bad-ger left tackle on a critical play during the bad-ger first half scoring drive.

There were multiple bad spots including on Iowa’s first drive. At worst it should have been 4th and inches, buy the lousy refs put Iowa a full yard back.

At halftime time Iowa very well could have been up 24-0 if not for the poor officiating.

Again in the second half the bad-gers were clearly stopped short of the line to gain on a critical 3rd down play on a scoring drive.

Iowa was blocked into the ball on the punt return. It should have been blown dead before that anyways as it had stopped moving.

The bad-ger defenders were obviously overmatched, so they were forced to commit several pass interferences as to not get beat. Every bad-ger penalty I saw was legitimate, and some that should have been called were missed.

Iowa would have won this game easily if not for the officiating.
