My Big Ten predictions

With the preseason behind us and the real season about to start, it's time to W/L this sucker. Here is what I came up with:

Legends:
Michigan 7-1
Nebraska 5-3
Iowa 5-3
Michigan St 3-5
Northwestern 2-6
Minnesota 0-8

Leaders:
Wisconsin 7-1
Penn St 6-2
Illinois 6-2
Ohio St 5-3
Purdue 2-6
Indiana 0-8

First ever "official" Big Ten championship game pits the Baaaadgers and Wolverines - Michigan squeaks out the win. Ann Arbor erupts into a stuffy, yet enthusiastic celebration.

I think a 5-3 showing should be considered very, very strong for this year's Iowa team...especially if you consider how we were all feeling around the mid-3rd quarter of the Pitt game! Replacing this many quality starters, I'd gladly take 8-4.

Needless to say, finishing at 5-3, Nebraska fans are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that the refs SCREWED them as part of a conference-wide conspiracy to keep them from their rightful place as Big Ten champions.

There is also no way that the total losses in conference play are more than the total wins.

Any list like this where the totals don't add up is nothing more than numbers being thrown around.

they should, who other than ND and i am not sold on them who have they played, right now the are all Robinson he gets hurt they are nothing, their defense won't improve enough because of coaching change to make them challenge for any kind of title

Legends
Nebraska- 6-2
Iowa- 6-2
Michigan- 5-3
MSU- 4-4
NW- 3-5
Minnesota-0-8

Leaders
Wisconsin- 7-1
OSU- 6-2
Illinois- 5-3
PSU- 5-3
Purdue- 1-7
Indiana- 0-8

Whoever wins the Iowa/Nebraska game will represent the Legends Division against Wisconsin.

if Iowa and Nebbie finish at 6-2 i am taking it to mean Iowa beats Nebbie, do they take overall record 1st, on who plays for the overall title as Iowa lost a ooc game and Nebbie would be 10-2 and Iowa would be 9-3

The numbers do add up.

I'm not sure these predictions are that far off. Michigan looks pretty good to me.....
You apparently haven't seen their defense play, or how inept their passing game is? Against SDSU Saturday Denard has 96 yards and 2 INTs. Michigan has become no different than the Michigan of last year. Best playmaker in the conference on the ground, but cant do anything in the air. If Robinson gets hurt, that team is lucky to total 7 wins.

They add up but not correctly. There are 12 teams playing 8 games each = 96 games, so you need a winner and a loser that would be a 48-48 record.

Here is his totals:
Legends:
Michigan 7-1
Nebraska 5-3
Iowa 5-3
Michigan St 3-5
Northwestern 2-6
Minnesota 0-8
Totals: 22-24

Leaders:
Wisconsin 7-1
Penn St 6-2
Illinois 6-2
Ohio St 5-3
Purdue 2-6
Indiana 0-8
Totals: 26-22

Conference totals = 48-46 record, so it doesn't add up correctly.

I just want to make sure that this Michigan team were talking about is the same team that has gone into Big 10 play the past few years at 4-0 and then failed miserably. I realize it's not the Rich Rod show anymore and they are showing a great of improvement, but they're still a work in progress. I could see 5-3 for them but no way 7-1. Just my opinion.

It was my understanding there would be no math in tonight's debate.

Sad as it is to say, I actually put a little bit of time and thought into these predictions. My math is correct - I did this game by game, not finger in the wind.

Double check your math on the Legends "L" column - it's your arithmetic that's off, not mine:

1 + 3 + 3 + 5 + 6 + 8 = 26, not 24.

Legends:

Iowa 6-2, losses at PSU and Neb.
Neb 5-3, losses vs OSU,at Wis,at Mich
Mich 5-3,losses at MSU and Iowa, and vs OSU
MSU 4-4, losses at OSU,Neb,Iowa and vs Wis
NW 3-5 losses at Ill,Neb,Iowa, vs Mich and MSU
Minn 0-8 losses to everyone.

Leaders:

Not sure yet.

LOL, you're right, I'm an idiot.

It is hard for me to add past 21 using body parts. :D
