It was Northwestern.
And?
I don't care who you're playing. Holding a team to 14 points in a half is damn impressive. Most teams don't manage that when they're playing the blind sisters of the poor in the OOC slate.
It was Northwestern.
Good write up and I see you finally came around to my thinking with the #1 slot.
Im almost ready to move Minnesota up to the #2 line. They are the most athletic team in the B1G and will cause fits for the Hawks.

Iowa must have played lockdown defense to hold down Coppin State to just 14 first half points earlier in the year. Oh wait, no it's because Coppin State isn't very good on offense. Same as Northwestern. It was an ugly game, neither team impressed. No other way to skin that cat.

In Lick's last year I think there were two or three straight games where Iowa scored 20 or less in the first half. It was because they were bad.
You think Minny is more athletic than Michigan?
Northwestern is ranked 100 in KenPom and Coppin St 291. Lazy comparison Spank.
Miss Valley State put up 38 pts in the first half vs NW. 340th in KenPom.
Texas State put up 39 pts in the first half vs NW. 268th in KenPom.
Rankings don't mean anything in this comparison.
The bottom line is Minnesota put up 17 AT HOME against Northwestern. It doesn't matter that NW uses the Princeton offense to slow down the game. MN played awful in that first half. If anyone watched that game and said anything different about the first half, I'd severely discredit their knowledge about the game. And, again, let's not forget, NW was without Crawford AND Hearn - their two top scorers and two of their better defenders.
If, you, as a team can't put up 25+ points in a half of basketball, you just did not play well at all.
But after saying all that, I really like this MN team. Easily the best of Tubby's time in Minneapolis.
I can see them finishing 3rd in conference.
Good and even great teams are allowed to have poor halves of games. Im not sure why you are putting so much emphasis on one half of a game against NW.
MN is a really bad match-up for Iowa. That could be a lopsided game in the Barn. We will need to shoot lights-out and limit turnovers to have a shot at that one.
I don't see Iowa staying within double-digits of MN in Williams.
Because it's Northwestern.
So with how poor NW is right now, do you expect the Hawks to win on Sunday in Evanston?

You guys know every time we start putting Northwestern down as a win Iowa gets their butts kicked. Football or basketball.
