MSU Victories this Season

I want to preface this by saying that I think MSU is a good football team this year and deserves to be mentioned as a legitimate Big Ten contender.

Other than beating a solid Michigan offense, they have zero quality wins this year. An overtime victory against a very, very mediocre Notre Dame team at home does not qualify as a good win. I went to the ND/Pitt game this past weekend and to label ND as a good football team is just flat wrong.

Granted, I do not think that we know that much about Iowa yet either, but I am not understanding the lovefest for Sparty, especially given that they have not played outside of the state of Michigan, as another poster pointed out in a different thread.

Just my thoughts.

Go Hawks!

I think their ranking is probably fair, but I still think it is reasonable for one to think that the jury is still out on how good of a team they have this year.

Go Hawks!

True, they haven't really played anybody. But who has, at this point, who isn't .500 or worse? MSU might have just gotten by ND, but it's not like we didn't have our fair share of close calls last year. Sure, Sparty is getting more love than we did a year ago. Perhaps the voters are ahead of the curve this year? We ended up where we should have been. MSU I think will finish in the top 10 this year. They will just get there sooner than we did. It doesn't mean they shouldn't be there.

Didn't they beat Wisconsin, when they were #11? I don't think Wisconsin is that great, but probably should be considered a quality win.
