Move King to slot on obvious passing downs

This is not rocket science. Michigan is doing it with Peppers. End King returning KOs and punts. Put him in the slot and move Vandy to wide receiver. Get King the ball in space. It will work, trust me on this.

Come on Kirk and Davis, get creative for once. Use your athlete and you'll win the Division

How about putting Boyle on the field? A very good athlete, an Iowa HS player of the year (at least once if not twice)! Let him play the slot position.

If not on offense, then put him in instead of Snyder! He also played as a DB during HS. This team flat out lacks athletes on the field. If they don't remedy it quick, then they are going to be badly exposed by the teams they play the rest of the year.

They do move King to slot on obvious passing downs, and he covers their slot receiver really well! Oh, on offense....Do you think King is as good of athlete as Peppers?

I like this idea. King is a superb athlete and I bet he could do it, like a Charles Woodson type deal.

I like this idea. King is one of the only "playmakers" we have on the field right now. Maybe the only one. I'd put Wadley up there maybe. Must get the playmakers and best athletes out there more often and find ways to get them the ball.

I like the Boyle idea. Our receivers aren't getting open much. I wonder if CJ's shoulder is hurt from the NDST game. He seems timid. Or maybe he only trusts 1 receiver.

Duh, Boyle hasn't learned to block PERFECTLY downfield on every play he's played yet!

How is it that EVERY damn receiver can't get open. Every one. Are they bad routes that don't work?

maybe there is just a very serious lack of talent at the position??

I hear ya, but every one? Of all the guys on the roster, there isn't one guy that has the quickness or ability to create some space at times. They were just out there last Saturday running 30 yard wind sprints all day. I was never a division 1 college football player, but I feel if I had to I could juke a guy and make a cut to create a gap to create space. Maybe the timing is off with CJ.

CJ against Iowa State threw some guys open and I saw that last year some too. It's like suddenly he only trusts one guy. He's holding the ball longer. I don't know if he's over thinking, doesn't trust the receivers, or if there is something wrong physically? He just doesn't look like the same guy and I'm not sure if that's on the receivers or if it's on him?

Bet you were the same guy wanting Micah Hyde to do punt returns.

Leave the coaching to Kirk.

Am I missing something here? Maybe my memory escapes me but I'd want Hyde to be the punt returner unless he was already hurt.

Edit: maybe I was missing sarcasm!

King's kick return was actually a huge momentum play as it changed the field position prior to Snyder's forced fumble. He appears to be fairly electric with the ball in his hands. I'd like to see him mixed in on occasion, if at the very least to give the defense another look.

It's the scheme. In college someone is ALWAYS open. We just have one of the most boring schemes in the nation.

This offense would work if we had an all world QB, someone like Vince Young. Who could break off 40 yard runs, take some of the hits that came with the zone read, and then make the short accurate throws. This offense can't do anything if you have a traditional drop back QB.

Watch the replays sometime. Take a look at our rourtes when we have our WR bunched together on one side. None of them take their route down the field, instead opting to run out and crossing patterns 5 yards deep.

This is like 2014 again. We don't have a deep threat on the field, and CJ appears to be timid. Don't know if he's hurt, doesn't trust his OL/WR, or he's been coached to dial it back.

CJ kept so many drives alive with his feet last year. The Pitt win was really set up with his scrambles, same with ISU (at least was a huge turning point in that game). He really hasn't done much of that this year. And teams have noticed. You have 10 guys in the box, and there's just no space to dink and dunk.

And we don't really substitute anywhere on the field, but especially WR. Same guys always go out. It would be nice to give a few young guys a chance.

I like the idea of Desmond King trying out at slot receiver or like a jet sweep running back kind of offensive weapon. We need whatever offensive spark we can get right now.

Is it just possible we're not playing good football now? We had numerous opportunities the last 2 weeks to open the games up, but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and other mistakes. Last year we made plays, the last 2 weeks we haven't.

It might be just that simple.

Yeah quite a bit of sarcasm.
