Most annoying players in the Big 10

It's pretty obvious what it takes to be on these polls:

1)Play for a hated rival

2)Be white

3)Be good

That's why you never see very little mention of Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern players. I'd guess if Tim Miles started regularly beating people in the Big Ten that opposing fans would find a gazillion things they hate about him: "He's so fake, he's way too nice!!!" "Dave Sobolewski freaking fouls on every single play and he's never called for it because he's the media darling!!!!"

Some people mentioned Sobolewski, who only fits one of those criteria. CP listed the Brazilian from last year's Nebrasketball, and that guy fits none of your criteria. Yogi, Gallegos, Traevon Jackson and Denzel Valentine have also come up. Just saying. As for lightning1's question, if we're ranking nasty beards, Petteway has to be a runaway winner.

Those are the exception, not the rule.

The vast majority of answers fit that criteria. I hear Aaron Craft a lot around the country, JJ Redick, Christian Laettner (probably public enemy #1 in his college days), Brian Cardinal, Scott Skiles.

For some reason being white seems to be a key component. If Iowa wins the Big 10 you'll probably hear a lot of people claiming that they can't stand Aaron White and Mike Gessell. Double whamy probably since they're gingers as well.

Creepy Crean.

Im just glad that curly haired flopping whining idiot from Wisconsin is gone this year. Yuck...... Craft is the obvious answer with good reason. He is like the worst, nastiest hemorrhoid you have ever experienced, combined with the constant whining of a teething one year old, backed up by a special cocky attitude that replicates most ohio state fans.

If I had to rank my top 3 this year they would be: #1 Craft #2 Craft #3 Craft. Followed closely by #4 Aaron Craft's parents, for blessing us with this loveable(gag) child.

All-time?

Antoine Joubert - Michigan
Uwe Blab - Indiana
Chris Jent - Ohio State
Todd Jadlow - Indiana

God, this season has brought back some great memories of Big Ten hoops in the '80s.

THE most annoying player I remember was Ted Kitchel. The guy would "jump" into any player around him and end up shooting free throws. He ended up playing against the second team or third team players because he always seemed to get the calls and opponents ended up fouling out when guarding him. I put jump in quotes because the guy had no hops. And on defense all he did was flop; since he flopped all the time he was rarely in position to rebound.

Phil Hubbard was pretty annoying as well. I remember a TV interview where he was asked how he felt about beating Iowa. He said, and I quote "Me glad. Victory." He could hoop but don't put him in front of a microphone.

1) Sheehey - still remember that dude's tomahawk jam when IU was bad, and talking afterward
2) Craft - would have been in 1st place but we beat them so I will cut him a break
3) Gallegos - for going off on Iowa when he is isn't really very good

All Time
1) Granville Waiters (cause he never seemed to graduate)
2) Scott Skiles (cocky jerk)
3) Jim Shickenjanski (got tired of announcers saying 'chicken man' when doing Goof games)

Dude had less hair as a college senior than I do now at 57.

All time....

Rick Mount... because he missed so few shots.

Dave Winfield, and that whole Gopher team was bad ***

Scott Skiles..... just because

Might be time to let the Rick Mount grudge go. It's like a political junkie being miffed at Martin Van Buren.

Was Blab that bad? Not remembering.

Some others all-time:

Scott Skiles, MSU - but damn, you wanted him on your team
Clark Kellogg, fOSU
Trent Tucker, Minnesota - but he was a nice-looking fellow
Shaggy Doo, Northwestern
Steve A***** (can't type it, sorry), Indiana

If your focus over the years is the Big Ten you probably wouldn't see this player but I witnessed several of his games:

Greg Foster, UTEP - one of the dirtiest players of his era

I would not allow my child to play for crean. That guy makes my skin crawl. Not sure I would want him around small children either.

Aw come on, that is a little unfair. Crean just looks, and some times acts, like a nerd but it does not mean he is a pedophile.

Crean also had that creepy tweet he sent to a recruit that he accidentally made public:

"I've been thinking about you a lot. A WHOLE lot!!"

Looked like he was going full Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" when he slammed the score table and talking to himself against the Wisky game Tuesday.

Who was the Hoosier player who threw the ball point blank into Kent Hill's head on an inbounds play? I think it happened again in Iowa City that same year or a year later.
