More Steve Alford fun

he's taking heat for playing his son this year...it's not going to end well for him in Westwood. He's a much better coach with Craig Neal as his assistant.

No we shouldn't. Never forget.

I agree, nobody should have to apologize for bringing Alford up. He is a big part of Iowa's past that had a impact (negative one) on how Iowa basketball got to this point. I love seeing the scumbag fail, bad part of it is even when he does get fired he will be laughing all the way to the bank. I honestly feel bad for the UCLA fan base, unlike the New Mexico fans they understood up front what they were getting and had it forced on them.

Stevie the hair is going to come crashing down. The reality of the situation is that he hasn't been special in anyway since 1987. He had a ****** NBA career, languished as a coach in the minor leagues and left Iowa under the conditions of an ultimatum to actually make the NCAA tournament.

Then he goes to a school where he can once again be his specialty. The big fish in a pond no one cares about. And when he gets to the tournament he couldn't do at Iowa, he sucks yet again.

When he finally gets canned at UCLA, and he will get canned at UCLA. He will no longer be teflon Steve, but a coach who has never really succeeded. Since UCLA in 2014 is not UCLA of 1972, it will be exceptionally hard for Steve to go back to a major conference. And the mid majors realize that he has scorned them at every turn. It's one thing to leave, it's another thing to actually have the balls to suggest you should be paid your longevity bonus before you take off.

Alfraud was able to convince one fan base that leaving the Big Ten to the WAC was a promotion once, but he won't be able to do that again, especially not after being fired.

But he does have good hair. His next gig will be on TV. But UCLA will be the end of his coaching career.

His FR son running the point is going to hinder recruiting at UCLA. It's not going to end well.

I think it's the Travis and Tim radio show (correct me if I'm wrong) that does the segment where listeners can call in and throw people in the "penalty box". I kind of have my own version of the penalty box... only it's people who if I ever see in person I'd like to walk right up to them and punch them in the mouth. Chances are I wouldn't realllly do it because I work in healthcare and I'd lose my job, but there's a handful of people who would immediately make my list:

Yours truly.... Steve Alford - No explanation needed

Some others...

Justin Bieber - No explanation needed
Kanye - No explanation needed
John Shurna - this tall skinny dweeb was a giant thorn in Iowa's side. ****** hit everything he threw up.
Bo Pelini - No explanation needed
Bo Ryan - No explanation needed
DJK - Certainly no explanation needed here. He'd probably get a swift kick in the nuts as well.

Some others who are about ready to make the list...

- People on my Facebook who constantly post controversial political garbage, and also whiny "my life sucks" comments
- Nik Stauskas
- Jamie Pollard
- Bret Bielema
- Nick Saban
- Richard Sherman (no doubt he'd kick my ***, but I'd get at least one cheap shot in)

If you guys have any obvious ones that I missed or would like to share you own feel free to chime in!

Okay I gotta get back to work... this was fun :)

I could actually see that happening. And if he ends up being analyst/color guy doing games on ESPN... The thought of Alford calling an Iowa game makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Very much a pet peeve of mine, it blows my mind when people take their issues to Facebook. They cannot handle it in person so they put it on an online site for the whole world to see just to get people to "like" it and...................

oops, I just realized this is exactly what I am doing here.

:D

STOP WITH THIS CRAP!!!!!

These thoughts are making me sick, seriously!

I like the probabilities of Iowa and UCLA playing each other this year in the tourney. There is no way the selection committee will pass on this opportunity, NO WAY!

The latest ESPN bracketology has Iowa(4), New Mexico(9), and UCLA(7) in the West. It would currently be an Elite 8 matchup.

I would not be surprised if it turns into a 4/5 matchup with UCLA and Iowa....UCLA has a fairly easy schedule the rest of the way and Iowa should be a lock for at least a 4 or 5 seed.

They are 15-4 and will probably finish 2nd in the Pac 12. Not great but UCLA standards but it's his first year. Not sure how it will end for Alford.

I don't get the criticism he gets for playing Bryce. It's not the same as when Lickliter played his son. Bryce can actually play at that level. He's shooting 43% from 3 point range and has better than a 2/1 a/to ratio. He's had a really solid freshmen year backing up a great player in Anderson.

I know we should let it go, let Steve rise or fall as he will at UCLA. But it's still just too much fun looking at his successes and mostly failures after leaving Iowa City.

No, you let a guy like Lickliter go - a bad fit for Iowa, but a decent person. The Fraud is a piece of sh!t who was hypocrite that wore his religion on his sleeve.

Why would we let this go? The guy is a scumbag who doesn't care about anything but promoting himself, making money and being famous. Every job is a stepping stone to him and he doesn't appear to care for his own players beyond how they can advance his career. Iowa is not a stepping stone job, its a destination. It is a place where if you build a great program you will get paid and you can retire there. He never wanted to be in IC, he always wanted the Indiana job and when he failed he blamed everyone but himself. Eff him and the jar of hair gel he rode in on.

I'm hoping alf jumps off a freeway overpass when he gets shitcanned. That way we wont have to watch him on tv.
