It adds so much to our offense. Any of u been at practice to see the back ups and what kind of wheels they have?

I agree 100%...Tate, Banks and CJ have been our best QBs under Ferentz, and all were excellent runners/scramblers (I always thought Tate should have run more). Boyle is a tremendous athlete...very strong and very fast. If they can teach better throwing mechanics, he is going to be very dangerous

Boyle is pretty strong and athletic. If he can develop I like him as a duel threat much the same way as CJ. Haven't seen enough of his arm yet. But that's down the road aways. I love a mobile qb too. It's just such an advantage when on 3rd and long you can still convert them with that extra dimention.

think CJ with more speed

Everybody talks about CJ beating you with his legs. And every time I see him run, I kind of chuckle. He's never "fast," but has really good footwork and seems to fake tacklers out with his eyes when he makes cuts.

Would like to know the "book" on Tyler W. and his running ability. He apparently has a monster arm and is big and strong. I really think we will see him as the two year starter after CJ's graduation. I think our two freshman will have to wait their turn.

Even Nathan Chandler could run a bit once he got going.

Stanzi was a decent runner (Indy game in 2009 to put the game away) and Vandenberg could run pretty good and is a good athlete. I think 2012 was a good year to have Vandenberg run as another strategy and the coaches did in the last game.

KF is on record numerous times stating that they always try to get a QB capable of running. The problem is, most don't want to come here.....

At least for the forseeable future they will be running a pro-style, zone blocking scheme attack. I am happy with a guy who can extend plays with his feet and arm on bootlegs and waggles, can make plays with his feet.

Semantics maybe, I see a mobile QB and a running QB a little bit different. Given the system Iowa runs now and what they will be running in the near future give me the mobile QB.

I find it interesting that Matt Millen and other sports guys have commented how well Jake Ruddock runs. I have watched him a couple of times this year and I think they have a point. But, it is a completely different set of circumstances. He runs when the defense drops off and he steps out of the rush. Has decent straight line speed, no moves. But, good for him.

He may have learned from watching somebody else?

As long as it's running to then pass. I want a thrower who can also run a little. Think Banks, Tate, CJ, and Stanzi to a degree.

The absolute best qb's are more "quick feet, shifty, pocket presence" guys, who keep eyes downfield, than pure runners.

Just find another CJ...easy right?

I think someone said this before me, but i think i can speak for everyone when I say we want a throwing QB who can make plays with his legs to pick up first downs and move around in the pocket and the occasional design run. We do not necessarily want a running QB that is a run first or spread option runner or whatever. There is a specific difference.

Added plus if they can run, it's a must they aren't a turnover machine and can throw the ball downfield. Iowa's offence is terrible when QBs dink and dunk week after week (think of anyone named Jake).
