montell reinstated

"I think the athletic dept & coaching staff saw MM as a kid that didn't give a sh$t after repeated mistakes. Therefore, they didn't give him a chance because they didn't expect him to do what he did.

Maybe I am reading into this too much but I think Montell chose his own path back to the team, he wasn't given one. he came back and said "See, I can straighten my a$$ out, on my own, and I don't need wrestling to do it" (otherwise he would have transferred by now). "

that may be right I guess, but let's all be honest here its not like Montell cured cancer and rescued babies from fires the last 7 months. I mean he went to class and didn't get arrested, last time I checked thats what college athletes are SUPPOSED to do! If that's all he had to do to get let back on the team then saying he was "permanently suspended" was major overkill and makes the athletic dept look foolish

I agree with that entirely; however, the mistake was the wording "permanent suspension". There is no such thing. It is an oxymoron. It truly should have stated "indefinite suspension". That is what it was. The arguing and bickering over it are due entirely to the incorrectly worded description of his status. I certainly understand those who interpreted it as "permanent", because that is what it stated. It also stated "suspension", which, by definition is NOT permanent. It was a terribly worded description. If he was permanently dismissed, like A-Rob, that is what it would have said. If you look at it as an indefinite suspension from Day 1, the course of events make a whole lot more sense.

Don't get me wrong, i'm thrillled to have MM back on the team 141,149, or where ever. But does anyone else think the U of I athletic dept and i guess the wrestling program too looks kind of foolish after publicly stating that MM was "permanently suspended" after his last arrest? I mean they do know the meaning of the word permanently right? I guess if there was even a 3% chance of him coming back why not just say he is suspended? It makes them look like a 'win at all cost' athletic department that Iowa people usually bash. I'm not saying i think that, but it does make them look like that.
There is no such thing as a "permanent " suspension.
the word suspension means that it is not permanent. The word was used incorrectly in a press release. He was just "suspended". They meant to use "indefinetely", but used permanent instead. I guess they were not english majors.
