Missouri Tampering with Tyler Cook?

“It could very well happen. I am not saying it can't. If it were Mizzou, it wouldn't surprise me to run a tampering charge at them. But we just don't know and I am not going to worry about it. If he wants to sit out an entire year, to probably play one more...more pwr to him”

One has to wonder what “assistance” is dangling out there to help Moms and Pops get between St. Louis and Columbia to watch Tyler play.

Where there is smoke there is fire, we've all been through this stuff before. You can hear it in his voice, he's already checked out as a Hawkeye.

But he'd be making a huge mistake if he went professional.

Doesn't matter if there is tampering. Nothing will happen. We have a huge scandal in college basketball right now and a huger scandal at MSU overall and I don't expect justice in either case. It pays to cheat.

Can Iowa put restrictions on him if he decides to transfer?
Most of the time it's only if it's in conference or a school your playing against. However throw in the possible tampering aspect and I would think that throws in a monkey wrench to it. To me if there's actual on the record proof his mom has spoke with coaches at Mizzu about Tyler then the NCAA outta just put the kibosh to it. If you want to keep tampering from being a thing (as best you can) then you can't let kids get up and walk there after it's happened with some minor slap on the wrist. There's too much to be gained for Mizzu to get a kid like him so of course they'll throw the kitchen sink to him and his folks to get him. That dude is shady as all get out to begin with so for Tylers sake I hope there's been nothin more than talking going on.
That said if Tyler wants to transfer and sit out a year that just says a lot about where the program is... I would think if he was remotely happy and had confidence in his game of getting to the next level he'd stick it out one more year. But easy for me to say from behind my keyboard...

Game show announcer "it's a brand new car"!
"Yes, it's a brand new 2018 Chevrolet Spark. It comes fully loaded with crank windows, climate control without air conditioning, a cassette tape player with auto reverse and adjustable side view mirrors!!!!"

Yeah, it would be a great outcome if Fran or the NCAA blocks Tyler from transferring. I'm sure the team dynamic will be wonderful next year.

How easy is it for a family to prove they have some kind of emergency to thus not have a transfer sit out a year?

The answer is yes. that would force Cook to have to walk-on at MO if he wants to play there and he'd have to pay his own way. Think Uthoff. WUs had the entire B1G plus ISU and FL on the list of schools he couldn't transfer to. But you can't stop a kid from walking on and paying his own way. But Cook would still have to sit out a season. That just really doesn't make logical sense. I don't for one minute believe Cook feels he's 2 years away from the NBA. Transferring would set him back an entire year. I think if Cook leaves Iowa, its to go pro.

Oh, something will happen. Missouri State will be give a 3 year no post season ban. And a reduction in scholarships.

After seeing the list of cheaters from the FBI list and already hearing the NCAA walking back the allegations I DON'T KNOW WHY teams wouldn't cheat. If you are not cheating you're not trying hard enough! That list is a Who's Who of college basketball, and guess what? None of them will get in any trouble. If I were a team that had gotten sanctions in the last 10 years I would be discussing litigation against the NCAA for unfair treatment and discrimination.
