Minny will obsess with kmart

I think they will blitz like crazy off the edge a lot. They did that last year after we ran it down their throats and it stopped us the rest of the game. It threw a wrench into our off tackle run game and our QB last year couldn't make them pay for blitzing.
I think the coaches drilled it into JVB to not turn the ball over last year that he lost all confidence in himself. The year before he was so good and we all know Kirk plays not to lose rather than playing to win. He just looked lost at times last year. A perfect example of a player with no confidence.

We need to be careful with their Special teams, though, too. They have scored more than once on special teams this year. Hopefully, we are up for it. Meyer needs to kick it out of the end zone, for sure.

I'd just like to see us "up" for a game at TCF for a change. I don't think we have gotten the Hawk's best effort up there the last 2 times we played in Minneapolis.

Yup, onside kicks and fake punts........bet on it. Iowa had better be getting it's special team's play up to snuff on defending these. That's what I would love for them to improve upon this year. The running, pass-catching, and tackling will take care of themselves. Just don't let teams back in the game when/if you have them down.

Rudock's pocket awareness is very strong for someone with only 4 starts. When he senses the outside starting to collapse, he steps up in the pocket nicely.

Rudock's pocket presence is very strong, regardless of experience. Based on what he's shown thus far, he's the best we've had in that department since Tate. He never takes his eyes off his receivers (I mean that in the sense that he's always looking downfield, not locking onto one guy), yet still feels when the pocket is breaking down (even when the pressure is coming from behind him). He's got very good mobility, and can either improvise (see the shovel pass he made against ISU as the spy came down on him, and the late pass on a scramble against WMU that picked up 5-7 yards as a defender was closing in on him) or just take off and run.

We've got a very cool cucumber calling the signals this year.

If they do, Powell should have at least 2 TDs. The San Jose St QB torched them.

First of all, I come in peace (well, kind of). I like to discuss up coming games with the opposing teams' fans.

I must say, while Rudock looks like he may develop into a nice college qb, Fales is in a complete different class. One of the the best in the nation.

I was at the last Goph game. They do have some issues in the D backfield - guys getting burned bad on deep routes frequently. QB irregardless.

Yes they do have their share of issues. They rely a little too much on pass rush to help out the backs.

Last week, Wells got beat on that deep 76 yarder. He made a very poor tackle attempt. He is just better in the run and ball hawking as well.

I don't know if it is how they are taught, but they just never have seemed to learn good ball skills. Quite a few times they are in position, but they never know when the ball is coming.
