I think they will blitz like crazy off the edge a lot. They did that last year after we ran it down their throats and it stopped us the rest of the game. It threw a wrench into our off tackle run game and our QB last year couldn't make them pay for blitzing.

It is a big day for Iowa too. Big game. And the hog farmer in me hopes every year that they bring home the bacon.
We need to be careful with their Special teams, though, too. They have scored more than once on special teams this year. Hopefully, we are up for it. Meyer needs to kick it out of the end zone, for sure.
I'd just like to see us "up" for a game at TCF for a change. I don't think we have gotten the Hawk's best effort up there the last 2 times we played in Minneapolis.

Let's not kid ourselves. Jerry Kill is a very good coach. He's turned into a winner every program he's been at. Northern IL, Southern IL and I forget the one or two.

I don’t think Rudock is going to consistently burn anyone with the passing game at this point. The coaching staff isn’t going to put the game on his arm this early in his development. I think they will work the space just outside the defensive box with the tight ends, receivers, and an occasional back. Hopefully they can use Rudock’s mobility to open things up a bit, including a half dozen legitimate QB carries. They can test Rudock’s arm here and there as the opportunity arises.
Mostly they’ll pound the ball with the power running game. (More than 50% of plays)
I have seen nothing of Vandenberg’s tendency to seize up with fear from Rudock. Hopefully he won’t develop that problem. Still, I don’t expect rock solid poise from Rudock this early on.

Rudock's pocket awareness is very strong for someone with only 4 starts. When he senses the outside starting to collapse, he steps up in the pocket nicely.

So far, I agree. I still think the coaching staff is going to be somewhat conservative with the passing game. I just hope they don't get too conservative about letting Jake carry the ball.

Isn't it rout, not route? Just checking my own usage of rout, not being a dick. Now, I think the Gophers are going to remember how Weisman shredded them last year and they will load up to stop the Hebrew Hammer.....meaning that Iowa needs to come out throwing early,and get the lead and then run the ball.
