Minnesota’s New Unis Have An Oar On The Helmet

The car the U of Minnesota gave Fleck upon hire.......

He seems like the type that would double park.

You know what? Good for him.

Shoot, once every 2 or 3 years Iowa has the audacity to have alternative uniforms. Wow. 40 years to have a logo in center of the field, white bread and ham or roast beef. Don't do anything different, don't want to catch anyone's eye. 7 wins a year. Rinse Repeat

If Iowa had someone with that much personality our heads would explode.

Life of an Iowa fan. Anything we don't already have, we do without.

I get what you are saying, and for the most part, I agree with you. I really liked the alternate uniforms that Iowa hammered O$U in, and I do think we need fresh ideas like that every season. But what the captain up north is doing is more outlandish then outstanding, and instead of people saying, "WOW, thats cool!" , they are saying, "what in the HELL is he thinking/doing?" . Again, not completely disagreeing with you, but you can't tell me that putting a large tampon...er...oar on your helmet when you're a golden gopher is not leaving you open to some,....shall we say,....constructive criticism?

Can you imagine if a new head coach came into Iowa City and went 2-7 in the Big Ten and then added a f'ing OAR to the Iowa football helmets?

Anybody know any Gopher boosters? What do they think of the schtick? I just can't imagine it going over very well up there.

IDK would you rather have a boring ol 7-5 per year, or a juiced up 4-8?
MN hasn't been any good basically since the early 70's.

A boring ol 7-5 per year.

At least then you’d be living in reality...instead of fantasy with everyone laughing at you, a lá PJ Fleck.

Most of them just laugh and don't say anything supportive or condemning it, but you just know deep down inside they're thinking. Here we go again A La the last three coaches we've had. I just get the vibe from most of the Goopher fans I know that they have had up to their eyeballs with all the rah rah crap they have seen over the last 8 years. I get the feeling old PJ is on a very short leash as far as many of the fans are concerned.

I live in Mn and play a lot of golf with some good goopher fans, they love my IOWA bag, and they are very high on this guy. I have no problem with their helmet based on the recreational activities in the state. I personally like his enthusiasm. That said for some reason they have a hard time recruiting good players. By the way they all hate IOWA.

Classic gopher fan, loving the next guy in, and hating Iowa for kicking your butt year after year.

Not hard to imagine some of the team rituals that Fleck has in mind. It is the logical next step.

It's the opposing teams that get to initiate them.
