Miller: We Own...Penn State

That greenway intro was sooooo loud and awesome. I loved the black and gold rows, it was amazing. the intro was so loud tonight it was soooo cool. Thanks Hawk fans for a great day

"Iowa has not allowed a rushing touchdown yet this season"

I'm trying to recall: wasn't this also the case going into the Michigan game last year?

Yes...and the last rushing TD prior to that one was home vs PSU when Murray kicked the game winner...Iowa went Purdue, MN and S Carolina in 08 with no rushing TD's allowed, then up to Michigan last year

Another 3rd qtr were our defense has not given up any points.
I think they have only given up about 16 points in the last 19 3rd qtrs??

Let'sbe honest here. PSU will be lucky to go 4-4 in the Big Ten. Their offense is and has been terrible.

We have played really well and we do own PSU 8 of 9 is really strong run for sure. Great effort by Hawks.

Iowa defense was dominate in every sense. The D line punished PSU's offense line so bad I was starting to feel sorry for their QB. The secondary was as dominate as the line. It seemed like every time the ball went across the line of scrimage it was surrounded by black shirts. Penn State's offense went home bruised and battered with nothing but a measly three points.

The offense marched down the field early and owned the line of scrimage. The one bad note was Rick's INT. If he had thrown that a foot or two to the left it would've been a great play. It still looks like he is being very deliberate with his throws. The running game was effective against a average defense. Robinson may lack speed but what he gives everything he has on the field. The offensive line opened some big holes.

Pretty damn amazing stat right here:

Penn State did not score on its first possession. Iowa has allowed just three opponents (Indiana, game nine, and Penn State, game four, both in 2009, and Arizona, 2010) to score on their opening drive in its last 31 games.

Here's another stat - take out the Royster 26 yard run on their last drive and they finished the game 22 carries for 28 yards.

Last night I got on the Penn St message board & started a thread titled "WE ARE ....."

and inside

.... Iowa. WE ARE ..... Iowa. Again.

Then got booted off to "view only". Sucks, I'd been good all week & actually had nice civil conversations with the Penn St fans over there. I'll miss there board as is one of the opponents I actually enjoyed visiting. I got caught up in the moment of the win & did it on impulse. I realized they might not appreciate it, but never thought I would get booted off.

If Jon could pull some strings with his contacts, especially after his new stardom on the Big10 Network & "The Pulse", it would greatly be appreciated.

I have never been that enamored with Evan Royster. I realize that it is difficult against Iowa's D & he has not have a very good line this year, but I haven't thought of him as elite when they did have an decent line. In my eyes, he does what RB's are supposed to do, but does he bring any other attributes that are different to the table?

I do feel sorry for the guy though, fans & the internet are just killing the guy after he has put 4 yrs of hard work in for this team. It's tough seeing him struggle on the sideline. Keep in mind that these are fans & internet posters who would never find their azz on a college football team.

I would strongly disagree with this statement. There were several times last night that the Penn State receivers got behind our DBs, but didn't execute and come up with the catch. There was also some shaky tackling in the secondary after a couple of those shovel passes and draws. Sash seems to always be trying to bring the hammer and take somebody's head off instead of just wrapping them up and getting them on the ground.

The defense overall was great, but the weak spot is the secondary at this point.

I kind of agree. Penn St did seem to have some open receivers that a more accurate QB may hit to complete. The freshman was off last night & when he did get it on target, many of the passes were dropped. A QB like Kirk Cousins scares the crap out of me.

We'll see how well they do against Michigan because they will have a lot of pressure if Iowa's front can contain Robinson's legs. They will have to use at least 1 if not 2 spies on Robinson to take away the run. If he is forced to throw, Iowa's D-backs need to come up large & we will see how tight we really are in the back of our D.

Agreed, and one reason I liked how the schedule setup for our young secondary, not being tested by an accurate passer until later - excepting Foles.

Watching the Michigan game yesterday, one thing scary about Robinson is his improvement as a passer. He remains inconsistent, thankfully, but showed he has the ability to zip mid-range bb's into traffic.
