Jon...I realize that Iowa-Nebraska is scheduled for the last game, Thanksgiving weekend for the next 2 year rotation.
Was there any confirmation that Iowa-Nebraska will be protected as the final game of the year going forward (e.g. the same benefit they are providing UM-OSU), or is that all to be determined at some future time.
Any insight?
By what Delaney was saying it sounds like they want to try some things out and see how they go. The most important thing for us, therefore, is to make this game and event so great that it will be considered ridiculous to do anything else.
There should be a whole annual event planned around this game. Cooking contests, livestock contests, produce contests. It should be like a mini traveling dual state fair. Make it a spectacle.
How about Turkey Leg eating and grilling contests?
I'm gonna love this rivalry. I can't wait.
BTW, did you notice the first (and for now, only) comment on that Omaha World-Herald article. Here it is in case you didn't. It's pretty funny, and ignorant...

To assume NU will have trouble winning our division is crazy. As you hinted, Michigan is a joke. They may never win another conference title as long as Bo stays at Nebraska. Iowa is never good 2 years in a row. Heck, neither is Penn St. Nebraska is just beginning another dynasty, and already has (and will have) the best defense in America. It's possible those 2 road games at Michigan and Penn St. could be against losing teams. Yes, there is the possibility of a very tough schedule, but I think those Big 10 schools are the ones shaking with "Nebraska" on their schedule every year.
I can't wait. Can you imagine 2012, Nubby in Iowa City. Watching Ohio St. beat Michigan, earlier making them 6-2. Then you have the Iowa VS Nubby game, both are 6-1 with the winner facing Ohio St. in the championship!!!
I love the way they set this up!!
Jon-
Thank you for writing a non-biased article and admitting that BOTH fan bases have an inflated view of themselves. That is something that not one single Nebraska writer and 90% of their fans would ever be willing to admit.
