Miller: Hawks Can't Lose to UNI. They Can, but they Can't

If we lose tomorrow it will represent an unprecedented level of incompetence in Iowa football's history, which is saying something. To lose to a team with 20 fewer scholarships, no comparable money/facilities/program support, at home, with our eyes wide open to the idea that it could happen is almost unfathomable to me.

Is Iowa at 85 scholarship players on the roster this year? With the RB and D-line defections recentl,y I'm curious if the total number has dipped some down. Its a pretty young team and had a lot of walk-ons in the 2-deeps last year. Seems some attrition has to be in the mix.

Jon said in his story..
"I picked Iowa to beat UNI 34-24 in the preseason when I went through Iowa’s schedule game by game. 34 points seems like a veritable offensive explosion at this point in time, but I am going to stick by this pick. In games against FCS teams, always keep an eye out of special teams points in the return game or punt block game, too."

I tend to agree, but it may be more like 27-17.

It's actually nothing like that. That was at the beginning of Fran's second season, Fran was just starting to make it his program. Ferentz has been here over a decade, and this is where the program is, hoping to beat an FCS team. Outside of Iowa Ferentz is seen as nothing more than a vastly overpaid average at best coach.

Actually it's a lot like it. A team that Iowa shouldn't even be scheduling, let alone losing to.
