Miller & Deace Podcast for 11-4

I agree that Iowa gets a reprieve with the new alignment. Our offensive philosophy needs to change and that should start with Purdue. With the chance we 'could' have with the divisional realigment, it is almost inconsequential whether Iowa makes a bowl game this season or not. We need to use the last 3 games of the season to show potential 2014 offensive skill position recruits that Iowa's offense has landed in the 21st century. Even by doing this, we should still beat Purdue, becoming bowl eligible. This is the type of 'risk' KF needs to show he's willing to take; pull out all stops, anything to position Iowa for the future realignment. Recruiting is the life blood and we have blead out offensively the past 2 seasons. If KF waits on this, then, to me, it is obvious his unwillingness to change so cut him lose after this season. It would be dumb to 'start showing a modern offense' in 2014 in hopes of getting 2015 recruits when we supposedly brought in GD in 2012 to 'modernize' our offense.

I know this was very hard for you Jon and I appreciate you being real and not holding back.

Iowa is Stale, old, and worn out!!!!

Agree, good discussion and analysis. The entertainment value would have only increased had this podcast taken place at a bar over a couple of drinks :)

Number of topics that were discussed.........comparisons to WI (consistency in winning and no chip on the shoulder culture) over the last number of years, play calling (deservedly so), Iowa's marketing talent, etc. In my mind this all comes back to the person that is ultimately responsible for all these areas. I seldom hear or see Barta's name in anyone's discussion about all these ills. Whenever the time comes that we are looking for a new head coach I believe a new AD deserves the opportunity to form the new direction.

P.S. Did I mention the contract awarded to Mr. Ferentz? Mr. Deace pretty well summarized that decision I thought.

I agree with this. Jon said some things that he's held under his breath for a while now. He said it in a nicer way then most of us here, but he's admitted this staff really doesn't cut it overall. Especially in this day and age of college football.
