Other bowl games

My takes on today's bowl games:
1) Lester needs to take Miami's playbook from the 1st half of the Iowa St. game and work all off-season to have the Hawks recreate what the 'Canes did to ISU that first half. Wow. Can't figure out why gaining yards against the Clones is like pulling teeth for the Hawks. Miami made it look pretty darn easy.
2) Iowa also needs to incorporate some of BYU's offensive tendencies: misdirection run plays, utilize TEs and RBs while they are MOVING in the pass game, etc. BYU doesn't have better athletes on offense than Iowa, they just have a more creative scheme. Actually the two teams have very similar type of players.
3) While I'm rooting for BYU, gotta give props to Colorado's QB Sanders and WR/DB Hunter for playing the 1st half of their bowl game. The #1 and #3 guys in the NFL draft, probably. Nothing to gain and plenty to lose if they get hurt in this game. Doing it for their Dad, or their team...good for them.

Yes, kudos to the CO top draft choices for playing. Sure wish Ward would have played a full game. No doubt but what The U would be eating all that Pop Tart sugar.

There are so many competent QB’s out there at various levels. How the hell can we not find a couple of good one’s? Nearly all of them have decent mobility, like, they can run the damn ball. Can you imagine how many additional yards our great RB’s would have behind a mobile QB? No excuses, KF.

Archaic offense and poor QB recruiting evaluation is my answer to your question. Offensively Iowa was near the bottom of the NCAA in passing yards.

No question. He made the Clown D look like a JV. Then the U put in their JV and made it an even game.

It has been 5 years of bad recruiting and development. It is a hard sell right now to get difference making quarterbacks and receivers to come here.

Well for one thing they have a QB that's gonna be a top 1st round pick running the show. You saw what happened once he didn't play in the 2nd half what happened too didn't you? Having a QB that can do everything sure helps. It's not just the Xs and Os it takes the Jimmys and Joes to get it done too.

This part I do agree with you on is Iowa does need to just open it up. We don't have KJ to carry the mail for us so win lose or draw go down swinging and throw the ball around the yard. I really hope we don't see 35 rushes by whatever combination of 3 backs we play. For the offenses future sake lets see what Sullivan and these receivers can do.

I loved seeing BYU kill Colorado that was enjoyable. They didn't just beat em they smoked em. They gave Deion some humble pie for the holidays. Colorado's O line was garbage. Putting that much pressure on QB to do everything with no time is impossible.

I saw that Coach Prime was hyping up the plane they were leaving in, but do we know if any of the players actually got on the plane and made it to San Antonio, because they definitely didn't show up for the game. To be fair though it was absolutely what most of us expected and again proved Prime and Co. are all bark and absolutely no bite against anyone with a pulse.

That's just it. BYU is legit. If they played 10 times BYU might beat em 8 times maybe every time. Colorado couldn't block em. Not one bit. It doesn't matter how good of QBs and receivers you have if you can't do that. It's funny to me how ESPN made it all about Colorado losing more so then BYU winning... I mean good grief talk about driving a one sided narrative. It was as if the brass at ESPN all lost a bet on it.

It's kinda wild when you think about it. Colorado has 2 of the top 5 picks in the NFL draft on it. But not only could they not beat BYU on a neutral field they didn't even compete with them... To say they have a long ways to go is an understatement I'd say. Does Deion have any sustainability and the stomach to really build a program? We'll see...

The domino I'm dying to see happen is if/when Dallas fires Mike McCarthy. Cause if the Cowboys job opens up the rumblings of Jerry Jones kicking the tires on bringing Deion to the Big D will only escalate. The two of them probably wouldn't be able to help themselves.
