Miller & Deace: Nebraska Makes 'Disastrous, Dumpster Fire' Hire

This is why politics is forbidden on this board. All reasonable discussion grinds to a halt as "The Wasteland" style insults fly back and forth.

You two fellas wouldn't happen to be here trying to stir up trouble from some other message board, would you?

Scorched earth is the only way to go in a political discussion.......dat is why there is da Wastelands

I find it interesting that many of the sports gurus in the media are calling Nebraska's hire a very good one. They think Riley is one of the most under rated coaches in the business and that he has a wealth of experience in various situations. They also pointed out that NE and Florida. Went with pro style coaches and avoided the current spread formation rage. Just sayin'

Ok, 1941 to 1949 Nebby averaged 2.8 wins per season. So that's about 3.4 wins per season from 1941 to 1961. All of Nebraska's success can be attributed to Devaney ad Osborne and that's it. There will come a time when old trophies don't matter much. Yale has a bunch of trophies to.

In roughly the same time period, 1939-63 the hawks were a pretty top football team. During WWII the Iowa Pre-flight team was Iowa football and they were very good. Evy had a great 10 years.

But some of those old Iowa trophies are getting pretty dang old. The Hawks havent won a Rose Bowl since the '50s. Iowa has averaged about 1 Big 10 Championship per decade and that was when their were 8-10-11 teams. Now there are 14 teams so it will be harder to win Big Championships unless some really hard work by the current coaches or new coaches is seen in recruiting and on the field.

I wish I had the answer why this coaching staff stubs their toe 2-3 games a year since the start of 2005.

I remember when a lot of people on this board where smirking at Wisconsin for hiring Gary Andersen out of Utah State. No one here is now laughing at that hire.

If Evy would have been followed by a coach like Osborne, Iowa could have achieved the same type of success as Nebraska. Although it might have been a little more difficult in the Big Ten. It would have been a little tougher to go undefeated in the Big Ten and it was an advantage to play in the Orange Bowl, since the Orange Bowl was conference champ versus best team at large.

You apparently know even less about economics than you do about politics or football.

Yet you feel compelled to opine.

Carry on. It's mildly entertaining.

Your personal attack only shows your ignorance and insecurity. At least pretend to make your discussion about football. If you disagree with something adults generally use some sort of ratonale vs blank general insults.I should not have called BO supporters idiots, my bad. Honestly, your dig about knowing nothing about football is nonsensical when none of your post as about football. So, do you agree with the fact that Mike Reilly has a record, and should be given a chance before being called a "dumpster fire hire"?

The fact that Deace calls it a dumpster fire hire makes me thing Neb. probably hired a very good coach. If I remember correctly Deace swore Chizik was going to take ISU to the promised land, he was as giddy as a school girl over that hire.
