Miller: Coe One of Ferentz Most Significant Commits?

In terms of quality he is not the best recruit in the Ferentz era however his commitment right now with all the bad vibes going around the program the last two weeks is game changing. It sends the signal out to other potential commits that Iowa is still a destination. I think this also helps us in the retainment of some of the early commits. It's easier for Iowa coaches to tell Rudock that Coe is the guy he will be handing the ball off to.

I don't know Jon. He has been described as 'looks like Tarzan....plays like Jane'.
McCall is a football player. Coe looks like a football player.

Yeah. RBS 's with offers from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin, etc, they aren't football players ;)

I didn't say quality, I said significance.

As far as RB recruits go, he is probably the best on paper as it relates to pedigree.

I was actually agreeing with you Jon! I was saying that quality wise there have been better but because of the crap that occurred the last few weeks his verbal can't be overstated.

Commits like this show that over the years Iowa has had a good number of highly recruited kids come to their program. Iowa gets good to great players. Not the number that maybe a Texas or Florida does, but it's not as hard to recruit to Iowa as some make it out to be. It's an established product and has been for a better part of 30 years. Hayden got a slew of highly recruited kids and Kirk has as well. Great pickup!

First, not all of those offers are still on the board for him.
Second, all the big time programs that you listed were not offering him as a RB. Its pretty much down the middle with college coaches on whether he is a RB/HB or LB/DE. Big Ten coaches like him at RB.

What's your issue? Every Coe thread out there you are dogging the guy.

Right now, until he has played a game, I would take Ramon Ochoa (along with many others) over him...we can rate him higher than Ramon once he proves himself.

You want to show some proof as to these offers not being legit. Fact is all those schools did offer him, whether or not they have already filled their need at Coe's position(s) is another matter. Bottom line is he had the opportunity to commit to any of them at one point. It's as simply as this though, the Hawks are his top choice out of all of them.

Not dogging the guy. Just a little more skeptical than you. I prefer McCall. And his lack of a committment tonight is...well....not what I thought would happen.
Whats wrong with me being critical? I know somehing about H.S. football in Coe's neck of the woods and I'm not as sold on the guy. There is a lot of talk on the board about him tonight, as there should be, and I'm participating.
If McCall commits I'll have a different tone.

Hey.................first of all I didn't say they weren't legit. I stated that they aren't all still available. Keep working on the reading thing Patrick.
Secondly, you don't know what is fact and what isn't pertaining to this. I could tell you anything on a message board and you wouldn't know if I was right or blowin' smoke. You want proof and facts, take up detective work. On a sports message board you're going to have to buck up and accept someone disagreeing with you about a meaningless sports topic.

If a school fills their needs at the position they want a guy to play, of course they're going to pull the offer. You don't leave the offer on the table in that situation unless you're dealing with an Adrian Peterson or Terrelle Pryor.
