Miller: Bowl Projections from 11-7

Iowa has to win out....I don't see that happening. I also don't see Michigan State losing.

Still....the Sugar Bowl would be nice!

Sure, they have to win out. I am projecting that they do, as I am projecting the rest of the Big Ten games in this. Still a lot of moving parts and a crap shoot. But based on how I think things will play out right now, this is what I see the landscape being

BCS guru thinks Iowa at 14 tomorrow and projects OSU to the sugar.

We agree on BCS ranking for Iowa, disagree on Sugar's pick, but agree that the Sugar is taking the second Big Ten team. He is also making his BCS projections saying 'If season ended today'

If I did that, I would agree, would take OSU over Iowa...but it don't end today ;)

Thanks Jon.

Your analysis is always really well thought out and I always look forward to hearing what you have to say. Thanks for all the work and heart you put into it. It doesn't go unnoticed.

Projections are fun. I like them. But the fact is the season didn't end today... It almost did for Iowa, but it didn't. And Iowa has just as good a chance of winning its last 3 regular season games today as it did a week ago.

Iowa was a winner yesterday. Among the losers yesterday were Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, S. Carolina and Utah, among other notables. And Nebraska was forced into OT at Ames before sneaking out of town with a one-point win. So as ugly as it was, maintain some perspective. Iowa won and remains on track for a Big Ten title with a Rose Bowl berth still up for grabs. And as long as that Rose Bowl berth remains unclaimed, I'm not interested in any other bowl scenario for Iowa.

And if you don't think Michigan can beat Wisconsin in Ann Arbor on Nov. 20, then you're not paying attention. Illinois probably has at least as good a defense as Wisconsin, yet Michigan put up 45 points on the Illini in regulation yesterday... Illinois simply could not stop the Wolverines. Michigan's win gives them some momentum, so it's entirely within the realm of possibility that Wisconsin goes down in Ann Arbor. A Wisconsin loss combined with Iowa winning out sends the Hawkeyes to the Rose Bowl, regardless of what anyone else does. That's not a projection, it's just a fact.

Michigan St will lose @ Penn St. I am confident in that now. Penn St is starting to play some decent football and MSU just really isn't all that good, they will stumble. The only question left is if Wisconsin will lose to either Michigan or Northwestern. Odds are they will go undefeated the rest of the way, but we shall see. I'd love to play Stanford in the Rose Bowl, so I'll hold out hope for that.

I would love a BCS game. More likely is a good January 1 bowl game against a good SEC team(Arkansas, Alabama?). If we make a BCS game, I think it's likely we'll face LSU.

I can see Iowa being the second pick in the Big Ten. Rematch with LSU. It will be a good game.

I don't want this! My best friend is an LSU fan. We've adopted each others teams as our second favorite team. I watched LSU beat Alabama with her and her husband last night. She was just as sick as I was watching the Iowa game. We've both said however that if our teams ever had to play each other again that the friendship is over!!!

Jon I think thats a lot of wishful thinking, which is fine, but I don't think they take Iowa over OSU.

I know we travel well, but OSU is a blue blood of college football and would be great for TV ratings.

At this point, whats the worst bowl we could play in? Alamo or Gator?

Jon I just don't see us making a BCS bowl this year. The need to run the table and get luck is just a tall order. I see us in the Cap one- Outback-Gator.......somewhere in Florida

I hope your right but I think it is a tall order for us to get into BCS

If we beat OSU (big if) I'm not sure if OSU would be in the top 12 of the BCS standings in order for them to be eligible for the BCS pool.

I would think that someone who wants to disagree with these picks should at least be informed enough to know that the Big10 no longer plays in the Alamo.

This.

OSU is currently sitting at #11 in the BCS standings.

They may move up as many as three spots today (Oklahoma, Alabama, Utah), but likely won't move up much next week. If they lose to us, you figure they drop 5-6 spots again, and even after beating Michigan, they may be just outside the top 12 still.

Remember it is the Top 14, not 12. Iowa would be ranked ahead of OSU in the rankings, beaten them only a few weeks previously and Iowa has never been to the Sugar Bowl. Also, if you think Ohio State would jump Iowa then think back to last year when the Orange Bowl specifically cited Iowa's win over PSU as a main factor in deciding their selection.

When did that happen?

So is the Dallas football Classic the replacement for the Alamo?

That sucks if true, I thought the Alamo Bowl was great. (even though its not exactly where you want to be in the standings)

This is first year where B10 not with Alamo. Its now P10-B12. The Gator steps in and will alternate with Insight for the 4/5 pick, the way the Alamo did with Champs. Champs no longer B10 bowl partner.

Rose
Cap One
Outback
Gator/Insight
Dallas
Texas
Little Ceasars (Detroit)
