So, is that a no on meeting in person?

Identify yourself and where you work first. You know me and where I work. Once I do a little background check on you, maybe we can meet in person. I’m not setting up a meeting with anonymous message board poster.

DM me your info. I’m sure you’re a good dude.

Deal?

This is just blind ignorance. Absolutely blind. Both parties are absolutely the party of big business, it's just that the Democrats have a really, really, really good marketing machine to make you think they are not. On taxes, I disagree with Trump's cuts to personal rates, but think Trump got it right on corporate taxes because what happened is our tax rates were sofaking high that a shitload of companies either re-domiciled or engaged in activities where they domiciled all of their intellectual property in Ireland, Singapore or Luxembourg and then shifted a huge chunk of profits overseas through intercompany licenses. The corporate rate should be low enough to be competitive globally and avoid that shit and the personal rates should probably be Clinton-era levels across the board (with adjustments for inflation) because the federal government deficit is just too damned big. You claw the tax out of the companies when they make dividends or distributions and they show up on personal returns.

The oligarchs and senior brass at big businesses overwhelming favor Democrats. Buffett, Gates, Bezos. There are definitely rich guys who back the GOP like in ag and everyone's favorite boogeyman, the Koch Brothers, but at the end of the day, the true elite (who skew heavily toward California and NYC) favor the DNC by a WIDE margin.

We had what, 30 years of lip service on immigration? Both parties talked tough, but at the end of the day, the folks stroking the checks with access have them both captive on immigration. Big business wants two huge things out of government: (1) cheap labor, and (2) domestic population growth to expand their consumer base. Companies like Apple don't give a shit what the tax rate is because they just ship their IP to Ireland and license it back, so they pay their income tax in fucking Ireland. That's been going on for years. Did the DNC control of the legislative and executive branches end that? Hell no. But again, current immigration policy is heavily focused on cutting labor costs and that goes for the oligarchs who run the ag businesses like the Perdue or Tyson families (who are GOP) all the way up to the tech darlings of Silicon Valley, who demand a massive stream of H1-B laborers every year. Remember how good meat packing jobs in Iowa used to pay? It wasn't the GOP who broke the unions, it was immigration. If you have a willing pool of backup labor, you can simply wait out the union on a strike and tell them to kindly get fucked. Economics is always going to prevail. And of course, each party has at different times had varying political motivations behind immigration. Reagan presumed that the Cubans would be a reliable conservative voting bloc, so he cut a deal. That laid the groundwork for where we are today, where the DNC sees political advantage after running a critical race theory strategy for years.

Trade. Who signed NAFTA? I forgot. Another Party of Big Government special, didn't matter if you voted GOP or Dem. Only Ross Perot pushed back on that.

Dude, it's a fucking disaster, but we as a society CANNOT get complacent about this shit these huge companies are shoving down our throats. If you have a highly divided populace, it makes it really fucking easy to loot it.

Nice argument...but it's moronic. LOL. Jesus please reach down and touch O'Keefe to help cure him of his ignorance.

So, the senior brass of big (Tech) companies overwhelmingly support Democrats. That's beautiful...but it's far from the majority. They didn't enact the legislation. The Republican Party did. The corporate tax cuts weren't warranted unless they hire people and pay them and provide the necessary benefits. Have your healthcare benefits gone up over the past 6-7 years? They are up astonomically...why. Because corporations have pushed the major expense increase onto you...while they are receiving massive tax cuts. What have corporate profits done? Best ever...until the Pandemic hit anyway. Think about that. At the time they are pushing cost onto their employees...profits are at an all time high and wages at the lowest levels haven't kept up.

I can't even argue with your stance on immigration. The pathetic way it's been handled is ridiculous. You don't have to demonize the immigrants to enact change. Do you know how many immigrants have been assaulted since Trump began this campaign? Separating families, and then not keeping records to put them back together. Are you kidding me.

Have you seen the video? They were wrestling for the taser and the other guy won. That was a battle that once the cop lost, he was at the mercy of if the guy was going to kill him or not. Since the guy luckily started running instead of continuing to fight, the fight for his life was over. But my point was, for those seconds, the cop knew keeping the taser out of that guys hand was life and death. In his mind, he was in a fight for his life. The emotions that had to be running through him 3 seconds later when he pulled the trigger had to be overwhelming. Do you at least understand that? I completely understand that the second he pulled the trigger, in a vacuum, was wrong. But the way that 30 seconds played out, it's really hard to condemn the guy. This is coming from a guy who can't stand power hungry cops.
Yeah it makes sense for a guy who's trying to get away for a DUI charge would immediately jump to killing a cop. Quite an assumption you've made here. Why do so many police officers think that people are out to get them? It's incredibly dangerous.

I was "self employed" in Illinois and when Obamacare was enacted, my premiums went from $18k to $30k per year with a $5800 deductible. But yeah, that was totally Drumpf's fault.

Irregardless, you can't even counter the point on immigration. You read it as an "attack on immigrants." Years of mindless bleating on TV has convinced you that it is in the country's best interest to have some massive wave of immigration and that anyone who stands in the way is a "xenophobe." Do you know why? Because the old line media and social media companies are controlled by a very tiny group of companies who are reliant on advertising from huge companies that want a shitload of immigration to suppress wages and grow local market size. I'm not attacking immigrants. Far from it. I'm attacking immigration policy because it is clearly designed as a wage suppression tactic and just because you are too stupid to see the writing on the wall, doesn't make me a xenophobe. Trump's failure to bring about meaningful change to the H1-B system is one of my biggest complaints about his presidency.

Do you know why your healthcare is so expensive? Because the Republicans support and protect the insurance industry. If you look, every single donation from the insurance industry goes to the GOP lobbyists and congressmen. Why do you think that happens O'keefe? Answer that question...is it because they want Obamacare to be successful or a single payer health system to get off the ground. They are screwing you, not Obamacare. Republicans watered down any mandate, and haven't supported it and in fact have tried to tear it down and defund it. They have driven costs up for everyone.

Your freaking great grandparents are likely immigrants. We all are. Listen the Irish, the Italians, all our ancestors have all faced oppression and discrimination if they came from Europe...more than likely anyway. We have to do better. Listen, I'm in California and I've dealt with and met a ton of illegal immigrants through various contractors I have used. I'm not an a-hole to them and I get to know them while they are working. The overwhelming majority are here because they had no choice. They couldn't support their families in Mexico or Central America. They had no choice, but to come to this country. They work their asses off too.

Why are all these hispanic families moving to Iowa now to work in the meat packing and other ag jobs. Is it because white people are lining up to do that work? In California, these people keep the agriculture industry moving...and make sure things don't rot in the ground. We need them.

A growing society and economy needs new workers at all levels to be successful. They pay sales tax and other taxes and they are consumers...they support the economy. Demonizing people who are just trying to make a better life for themselves is not the American way. You understand where "Make America Great Again" comes from, right? It's really, Make America White Again. Read about the nativism of the late 1800 and early 1900s...and it's eerily similar to the rhetoric from Trump. America is great because we have tolerated and embraced diversity...look at the contributions over the years of minorities...not because we have stoked fear and division that whites will somehow lose their place. Fear. That's what is driving your position whether you think so or not...just read what you have written in this thread.

Immigration is not a wage suppressant. The ability of corporations to exploit immigrants and lower level workers is the wage suppressant. We need a living wage...so that if people work 40 hours a week...they should make enough money to live and live comfortably. Greed is your wage suppressant. I'll go back to senior executive pay...287 times the average worker salary/wage in 2016...whereas it was in the 50s in 1980. Does Jamie Dimon at JP Morgan deserve to make $50 million a year plus stock options? The wealth of this country has been hijacked by a very small %age of people. Right that ship and you solve problems.

Listen...I'm a capitalist...I'm getting ready to retire early. I'm not coming at this as if I've been wronged. I haven't...I've been very, very fortunate. I'm just calling it like I see it...and I'm privy to a ring side seat.

On eve of Trump visit, Tulsa still haunted by memory of white supremacist massacre - Up to 300 died.

It was 99 years ago, on 31 May 1921, when a horde of white people in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, raided the prospering black neighbourhood of Greenwood, firing indiscriminately on hundreds of black civilians and torching the businesses, homes, hotels, churches and cinemas in what was then known as “Black Wall Street”. It was an episode of white supremacist terror that has haunted this city ever since.

I am probably going to give the young lady a pass on this one. She certainly doesn't seem like The Swat Team/Riot Squad that attacks protesters like they are storming the beaches at Normandy, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. My father was wounded three times on Saipan and Tinian and was sent home after the third Purple Heart before they went to Iwo Jima, fortunately. He made the front pages of The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Bulletin. He was in reconnaissance and they were far behind enemy lines when all the officers ahead of him were killed. He led everyone else back to safety with no casualties.

When he would take me to basketball and baseball games in Philadelphia, during the National Anthem, he would stand with his hands at his sides. He didn't have to prove his patriotism by placing his hand over his heart, and I know for a fact that he would have absolutely no problem with folk kneeling for the National Anthem. Simply that.....

He worked at Meredith and one day the family was driving down the alley on a Sunday when someone ran out of the back door fingering him, and yelling N lover. He just looked at him and drove on. My brother and I asked him what that was all about. He said that there was a Black Man working in his department and everybody, including that Ahole, was rude to him and making comments that he would hear. My Dad was friendly with him and tried to make him feel a bit at ease. Jerry and I told him that we would kick the living shite out of his sons. He said not to bother.

The LadyCop seemed alright. Bottom line, she was a customer wanting an Egg McMuffin that she paid for, and had to wait and after finally getting the bag, there was no muffin there. I would be seriously pissed about that as would most of us. There are good police, many more that the ones who abuse the code of Protect and Serve. I know that in DM the police are usually alright, and let things go if they can. Of course, since the president was elected there is a certain element that feels entitled to drastically overstep the boundaries. You know: Smash their heads when you put them in the patrol car and so on and so forth.
