One thing to keep in mind; regardless of how big or not big a deal some on here think it is, the folks in IC were pretty steamed about it..and since they lead the players on the field, and we don't, that matters a lot more ;)

You purposely ignore the real issue behind what's going on at O$U. Almost all your posts about OSU seek to minimize their sleazy side. Your straw man comment fits your lame M.O. on this website, now back to whatever fan-base you're a part of.

This thread is rediculous. Go to any other site in the Big Ten and they will have stories about other confeence foes 'going negative' in recruiting. Even the beloved. The guys over at Wisconsin's board are just positive that Iowa is underhanded in football recruiting. The guy running the Illinois Rivals site is positive that Ferentz has been telling kids in Illinois that the Zooker will be fired for a few years now. Is any of it true? I don't know.......maybe to varying degrees from all parties. Everybody has their warts and are concerned that they will be used against them in recruiting.

Wow. Just wow.

And to the knuckleheads above claiming moral equivalence: name one example since KF's arrival where a recruit from any school has claimed KF or staff lied to them about a competitive school... or even badmouthed one. By contrast, there have been dozens of recruits who've gone out of their way to comment Iowa was "the only" or "one of the only" coaching staffs NOT to badmouth other schools. And not just recruits Iowa landed, either.
 
The "everyone is doing it" argument is used by those who don't understand what the word integrity means. One person/staff slinging mud does not mean that all do. Yes, we all know no one's perfect but there can be clarity as to rights and wrongs. Some are "by the book", some live in gray areas and some try not to get caught. I am confident we have a HC and staff that work hard and recruit with integrity. a staff's tactics typically take their cues from the values of the HC...

Do we have any real proof of this? Not saying it didn't happen, but this kind of talk is common around the college football world.

For years, there was a lot of talk in the college football world that Hayden built the Iowa program by cheating. Not saying that's accurate, but without any facts, why should I believe what I read about Michigan State's actions any more than what you read about Iowa's supposedly questionable tactics on other message boards?
 
Don't kid yourself. Fry built Iowa at the same time places like SMU had a payroll. You think it is tough building a program now, think of what is was like trying to lure Texas kids to Iowa in the early to mid-80s when you were going up against that culture.

My point isn't that Iowa cheated - while I have heard that from people associated with other Big Ten programs I always defend Iowa. Similarly, I am naturally skeptical when I read on a Hawkeye fan site about other programs negatively recruiting without more substantial proof. Not saying it didn't happen, either...
