Michigan St Dirty Recruiting - please elaborate

In reading Jon's writeup on Big10 schedule next year he eludes to "payback" for MSU's recruiting tactics this past year. Could someone elaborate on this, I'd love to hear.

MSU talked smack about Ferentz and the the Iowa program following the Rhabdo incident to some recruits (Darian Cooper) in an attempt to influence their decision. At least that is what I believe I read on this site, I have no personal knowledge to verify that.

That's not dirty recruiting. That is recruiting. Does Jon really think that Michigan State is the only school using that against us?

Cooper said that MSU brought coachers brought up the Rhabdo stuff and talked the Iowa program down. That is SEC crap, most schools with honor do not bash thier fellow conferences school. They talk theirs up and sell all the good about their program. I would love for Iowa to bring up that msu plays people poeple right out of jail but KF and Company are too classy to do that.

Besides the fact that it really isn't all that effective. It works on some, but in all honesty I work in sales and you can literally see peoples head lamps turn off when you start bashing the competition. Now there is a way to do it, but if you blatantly bring it up most people get turned off by it.

If you do it right people think it was their idea and you were embarrassed to even talk about it. But as a rule better to leave it alone even IF they bring it up.

Get real. All of the Big 10 schools do it. Didn't we steal a player from MSU this year? A RB?

The MSU coaches told Cooper that there was more damaging Rhabdo news coming, and that members of the Iowa coaching staff were going to be fired on the Friday following signing day at a news conference, which was on a Wednesday...they were making it sound like Ferentz was going to lose his job, too.

Dirty recruiting happens...outright lies like this, that's a different level.

I didn't know they had gone that far, that is bad.

Stealing a player?? How do you steal a player that hasn't signed a LOI? He may have verballed, but you should know what Ferentz says about verbals... they were just holding hands. Doesn't mean that the recruiting was dirty.

That's bad stuff and shows desperation. I like it.....I’m a big believer that God makes that stuff right in the long run.

That's just dumb. Even if you get a commitment on Wednesday what is the kid going to think of you next Monday?

Dirty recruiting is bad, but the outright cheating that Ohio State did is worse.

They sold their own property`!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which was given to them for free. It'd be one thing if they'd bought that stuff themselves. But you don't see the issue with allowing them to sell that kind of stuff? You make it okay, and next thing you know boosters have tremendous "sentimental" value, and will pay thousands of dollars for stuff that's not worth $200.

LOL
Do you also believe that Bill Clinton was impeached because he had sex with an intern and not because he lied under oath to a Senate judiciary committee?

Tressel competed last season with ineligible players....and he knew it. That's cheating.

The NCAA is going to punish Tressel for covering up, I hope he gets the same punishment as Bruce Pearl, The MSU football staff are sleezebags!

Didn't Iowa report a secondary violation in the recruitment of Cooper? I bet MSU thinks Iowa "out-dirtied" them for Cooper....
